My kid’s sleepaway camp has a service where they’ll print emails and deliver them like regular mail so they get messages sooner. But it’s text only and kid wanted pictures of the dog. Solution? ASCII art! (Yes I just posted a picture of text art of a picture) @darthbluesky.bsky.social

They excluded Arizona and other places that don’t currently change their clocks, but I like how the “No data” label instead implies that we just can’t predict when the sun will rise in these places.

later winter sunrises across much of the U.S. Scientists have documented consequences for health and the economy.

The map shows the US in various shades of blue indicating how many months each year will have sunrise after 7am under the proposed policy. Arizona and a smattering of counties around the country are in light grey which the map key indicates is “no data”.

New bike lanes painted on Broadway in Cambridge overnight last night, part of section B plan. Maybe those cars were already there and painted around, but the signage already said no stopping- hopefully some physical barriers coming.

My pet peeve- regulators making a big deal about 1 vs 2. Throttle-only is not fast! My 750W bike using just throttle does 0 to 19 in 13 seconds. The real benefit is startup boost at traffic lights and low speed maneuvering. Most people writing anti-ebike articles have never ridden in city traffic.

What kind of e-bike? Class 1? Class 2? Class 3? All of them? Do you mean e-motos? I am happy to have conversations about e-bike regulations, but I'm begging people to understand the variety of micro-mobility devices being called "e-bikes."

I think e-bikes need the regulation - probably even license plates and driver licenses. And I think that regulation will make it safer and therefore a more viable form of transportation.

Which is to say, I think it is pro-e-bike to want proper regulation.

Health Care Provider email: You have new secure message! Click here to read it on our secure portal. Me: I don’t have a login for that portal. HCP: Ok, we’ll send you an email with login credentials. Me: So couldn’t you have just emailed the message? HCP: No, that would be insecure.

My kid thought I should use Elon’s dumpster site to complain to a company that’s not on here to get a response, so I said fine, and within 10 minutes a scam account was created and trying to steal my info. Completely useless trash fire.

Looking for problem solving: Air France abandoned our bag in CDG airport, never loaded it. It has an AirTag and looks like it’s been sitting at the baggage counters for two days. We filed a claim and sent them the AirTag link but they won’t take the five minutes to track it down and ship it. 1/2

Learned this week that it’s not very hard to bike to the airport. Ferry from downtown, east Boston greenway to airport station, service road to terminal E. Last half mile isn’t very bike friendly but there were almost no cars.
