@jc.inkroll.gg

I make Inkroll.gg, a home for play-by-post tabletop RPGs. Async, text-first, built by someone who actually plays. Here to talk shop, share campaigns, and boost good games.

I've just added a "Try a Demo" button on the frontpage, you can now get right into a campaign of any of the 6 supported systems, which are 5E, Grimwild, Cortex Prime, Call of Cthulhu, Shadowrun and PF2e. A great way to have a try at the *experience* of inkroll. Let me what you think!

New feature today! You can add emojis to posts, Discord-like. This can be turned off at the discretion of the GM, so if you don't like it, you can hide it (off by default):

The "Game Context" is available when you post, revealing a local battle map, a world map and a GM authored "scene" text where permanent info can sit. Images are simple uploaded jpg + a grid you can configure, pins/tokens you can drop and move, no complicated stuff here:

The other big difference of inkroll vs forums or chats is the integrated interface when you want to post: dice, formatting, map, secrets, update on spell slots, HP, AC, XP, character sheet access, etc, all in one place:

First thing you'll notice with inkroll, and which is different from a forum or chat, is the time-based huge scrollbar on the side, that allows you to easily and instantly move around the history of your chapter:

I am building Inkroll because I have spent years in one pbp game with old friends, and our story kept living in tools that felt like a pain to use. We made do with forums, sheets, bots, external maps, but nothing seemed built for the way we actually play.

I am JC. For six years I have played tabletop RPGs by writing, with the same old friends: play-by-post, one slow post at a time. I am building Inkroll, a home for those games, and I will talk about both here: the hobby and the tool as it grows. If you play by post, tell me where your game lives.
