Which is why we implemented it in our #RUM already! RUMvision.com allows you to provide your containertiming names, and we automatically track and expose it in your dashboards For our RUM purpose, we introduced a second data-* attribute to tweak it's configuration and tailor what is being send 5/6

Container Timing is a new web performance metric to measure when an area of the screen gets painted ⏲️ @jdapena.bsky.social and @jason-williams.co.uk have been working on it for the last couple of years. It's in Chromium, behind a flag. Hopefully coming to an origin-trial near you soon!

How do you measure when a component is “ready”? ⏱️ LCP is too global; Element Timing is too specific. 🛠️ I’ve been working with Bloomberg on a new #webperf API: Container Timing. Think of it as “LCP for a web component”, providing aggregated paint timing for a subtree.
