The best part of not using AI for art or writing, creating from the heart, putting yourself out there, not writing clichés or trends, and always giving your all is having the algorithm tag team with indifference to wave hello to your insecurities. It's awesome.

Having a rough day/week/month/year? Want a break to laugh at my adventures? Curious as to how much of a struggle it can be to extract a lizard from an apartment? Then look no further, cue the Star Trek fight music, and enjoy a moment of madness. jdestradawriter.substack.com/p/adventures...

Lol this is by far my least read piece on Substack. Too often we don’t spend time with an album, old or new. I get a LOT of enjoyment from being mindful when I listen to something and any album I review has been listened to minimum 5 times. jdestradawriter.substack.com/p/being-musi...

I'm writing a piece about the energy crisis in Puerto Rico and am curious, if you live somewhere OTHER than Puerto Rico, anywhere in the world, when was the las time you lost power?
Been a while since I posted one of these cover games. Here's one I did for my middle grade adventure, Given to Fly :) See if you can find the 8 hidden images. And if you'd also like to pick up the book, link in the comments :)

Writing in several genres is curious for countless reasons. Last month? All I sold was poetry. This month? We're starting with the novels. As long as people enjoy what they read, I'm a happy guy. Here's a link in case your bookshelf is peckish or needs a buffet. www.amazon.com/stores/J.D.-...

I recently gave a follow to someone on a certain platform, was enjoying their content, and then saw a post of easy ways to use AI and was immediately turned the F off. Even for music there are options for you to do something simple and it just feels like people don't want to do any of the work.
Confession of a writer #60: Licking our wounds is sometimes part of the process…but it can’t be the end all. Recognize failures and offenses. Take a beat. Rest. Hydrate. Eat a cookie. Then keep going. Idle is the most dangerous state of being.

The best part of reluctantly asking for a favor is having the person ghost you, forget what you reminded twice, and later send you a meme that cracked them up and reminded them of you. The human condition in 2026 is one catastrophic cluster :)
We all know someone for whom this applies. :) Start your week and end your month with some silly. It's good for ya.

Nothing like reading a document on Acrobat Reader and then needing to search how to turn off AI features I never wanted in the first place. This applies to pretty much most apps. I am happy to do most of the thinking myself, thank you very much.
Ooops, I did it again. I typoed myself :) Happy Monday.
