I'll phrase it this way: Kubrick could have made Oppenheimer and chose not to. Nolan will never make anything like Dr. Strangelove. Nolan adapted The Prestige and Batman comics; Kubrick adapted Nabokov and Thackeray and Anthony Burgess. I like Nolan's work a lot, but be real.
