I am really happy to share that I have been awarded an ERC Consolidator Grant @erc.europa.eu #ERCCoG for the project Tropical Forest Adaptation to a Changing Biosphere. I am grateful to my family, friends and collaborators and look forward to developing this project together with you!

A new PostDoc position in our BioEO team url-shortener.me/1KHP @ecioxford.bsky.social @ox.ac.uk -> Quantifying interactions between climate change, forest functional diversity and fragmentation and vector borne diseases in the Amazon -> get in touch if interested ! my.corehr.com/pls/uoxrecru...

We are enjoying so much this fieldwork in #Kenya with @NaturalState @ecioxford.bsky.social @naturerecovery.bsky.social @ukri.org with our drone team measuring biodiversity and also the casual rhino transport 😜

Our paper on mapping the canopy traits and functions of global tropical forests was published online in Nature last month but is out in print today, and it made the cover 😊 Congrats again to @jeaggu.bsky.social and the many, many co-authors who contributed to this @natureportfolio.nature.com

Tropical forests are not all the same: they show many shades of geographical variation. Our new paper in Nature led by @jeaggu.bsky.social combines field and satellite data to make a first map the canopy functional traits of the world’s tropical forests: www.nature.com/articles/s41...

We submitted a paper to @ecography.bsky.social on the 31st of July 2024! It has been sitting with the Editor for months on 'Pending decision' ... several emails but nothing happens! What should we do when we are in this situation? this is a paper from a PhD student who just finished her PhD...

How can Integrated Fire Management be implemented as an adaptation and mitigation strategy to altered fire regimes? This perspective provides an overview of IFM across different regions worldwide and presents a roadmap of implementation maximizing its potential to benefit both people and nature.

Integrated fire management as an adaptation and mitigation strategy to altered fire regimes - Communications Earth & Environment

Integrated Fire Management can be used as a valuable adaptation and mitigation strategy combining fire prevention, response, and recovery across different ecological, socio-economic, and cultural cont...

Are tropical #forests keeping up with climate change? Not quite, it turns out. In study led by @jeaggu.bsky.social in @science.org, we used a massive plot dataset from across Americas to check whether tree characteristics are tracking #climatechange. They hardly do. www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...

Tropical forests in the Americas are changing too slowly to track climate change

Understanding the capacity of forests to adapt to climate change is of pivotal importance for conservation science, yet this is still widely unknown. This knowledge gap is particularly acute in high-b...

Tropical forests are not changing fast enough to keep pace with climate change. New paper in Science today by @jeaggu.bsky.social shows that <22% of new trees recruiting into forests have traits better adapted to the new climate. www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...

Are tropical forests in the Americas changing as adaptation to ongoing climate change? Yes, they are! Are these changes enough to track their suitable climate? Not quite! Check out our paper in @science.org www.science.org/doi/10.1126/... to see more of what our network has been working on!
