i genuinely still dont really understand why google doesnt have an opt-out button for ai overviews somewhere nested in settings

my like 85 year old grandmother would show me fake movies with AI generated posters on facebook with a billion scam links attached to it and she'd go "hey can we go see this one maybe? its like that "knives out" movie you were talking about!", lol.

for those who still don’t think it’s happening, just know my 75 year old grandmother sent me a link to a google search result where she prompted the model to get a response. started with “can you please tell me…” not a result on the page. the prompt. it’s happening

yknow how we have e-bikes and acoustic bikes? we need to make acoustic coding a thing, contrary to vibecoding. we can do this chat. this will be the term now.

i think it is kinda depressing that data centers are the most prolific privately funded infrastructure project in this country rn. idk, lol.

im not pro-ai really by any reasonable stretch of the imagination, but hand-wringing about the "morality" of writing code, from any angle, with or without ai usage, is a little fucking ridiculous. code itself isnt moral or immoral, its literally only how that code is used that matters.

oil is the future. if you aren't buying standard oil, and using it to power your factories, make your plastics, or else you'll get left by the wayside. sure, standard oil has a big grip on the market, but that's the price of progress; you gotta adopt or lose. and if you don't? you're a bad person.

i think the worst thing i see in transit spaces still is the advocacy for privatisation and pointing towards japan as a positive role model in the space.

told my parents i wrote in quaver from unbeatable on my ballot and they got mad at me its like what u literally told me to vote blue no matter who?????

can be true for you personally but i dont think its universally good advice lol is all i think on this. very contextual and situational; i think early internet access for me was mostly bad, even though i grew up in a household with stricter parental controls.

this isn't very popular to say, but for me personally, it was good that i had unrestricted internet access when i was a minor. i was aware of what i was doing and enjoyed it. i don't look back on it and go "well that was a mistake", i look back on it and wish i could do it for the first time again

oh that one guy who just religiously made lists of ppl who either follow listifications or block him and would remake the lists every few days just to send out the pings over listifications got suspended. shocker.

instead of spending $240/mnth on AI instead u can get 24 year-long costco executive memberships for your friends. have u liberals considered that, huh????
