Thanks, Allina, for leaving me a message asking me to call you back - and informing me that I can’t call back on Saturday, which is today.
Cancelling and postponing s*^t I don’t really feel like doing brings me joy.
I can’t recall who on this site made me aware of Velasquez Family Coffee and their home delivery but every month I’m damn grateful. It’s our daily brew! www.vfamilycoffee.com?mc_cid=ac37f...

The style of parenting exhibited today at SFO is distinctly lackadaisical.
I have three things to report on the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival. 1. It’s extremely hot today; high of 86. 2. There are a quarter of a million hippies and hippie wannabes in Golden Gate Park, at least half over 60. 3. Nudity is legal here.
The situation this afternoon during Los Lobos’s set. I regret not taking video of the swirl.
This is the best fish taco, at Tacos El Patron on Fillmore.
Heading off soon to a 3-day outdoor music event attended by 750,000 people. The things we introverts do for love of the person who mostly lets us hang out in the porch with a book.
The Guthrie’s “Waiting for Godot” is solid, with a very good cast. Jim Lichtsheidl is especially good. But I really miss Jeune Lune’s swing-for-the-fences take-no-prisoners approach to theater.
Now THAT’S a mayor! Instead of preserving and maintaining the status quo for landlords and wealthy donors and drawing a veil of secrecy over police department over-spending, do something meaningful for Minneapolitans and our cultural institutions.
Pun (mostly) not intended… Bravo. Glad to see at least some cities have mayors that don’t suck. youtu.be/FckhbDho1rE?...
Just did our own Kingfield garden tour. In the gray light of late morning after all the rain, people’s gardens are looking vibrant in the last days of summer.
Finn Fest was more entertaining than the MODE Festival. Meaning several dozen reserved Finnish Americans are more fun than several empty blocks of Nicollet Mall punctuated by cop cars used as road blocks.
Made turkey chili this morning with cannellini beans and home-grown cherry tomatoes. Also it’s extra spicy because allergies. I just need some Mezcal. For later of course.
Any of my Kingfielders know why we’ve been regaled by sirens all afternoon???
Finished a fiction book today that was so delightful I can only follow it up with a teeny book on physics and Virginia Woolf’s last novel.
Some of my favorite creative luminaries are in the Twin Cities this week and next! I have tickets to see two of them and hope to see the third as well!
Okay, which of you has a cat named Juice Box? I think I need another photo.
The Monarch Festival was a delight! So many tiny and bigger people dancing in butterfly wings.
Anybody know what was happening at Incarnation Church today? We saw people in all-black formal attire arriving around 11am and some leaving at 3pm. I was thinking wedding (can the couple demand everyone wear black now?) , but four hours?!!? Fancy wake?? Wha?
Seems like this disaster was predestined. Or maybe it mourns its own occurrence.
If anyone needs some chairs this sale on the 3800 block of Lyndale has a couple…dozen. Plus four mannequin heads?
My favorite grated raw heirloom tomato sauce in my favorite Teiko Tanaka bowl. Waiting for the hot cooked pasta and that moment when the scent of garlic, basil, and fresh farmer’s market tomatoes hits.
I was once trapped in Ye Olde Mill in a boatful of coworkers. Highly recommend “Escape from Ye Olde Mill” as a team building exercise.
Touted as the 'original tunnel of love,' the 111-year-old attraction makes you believe you've accidentally trespassed into the formless land that lies beneath hell itself. Here's why we love it. racketmn.com/a-paean-to-y...
