I need someone to create advanced "Learn to Play" for TCGs. Basically, learn to plays all suck because they're very basic and don't show what gameplay is really like. High end content that shows the real game is full of jargon and not understandable until you've learned the game. #TCG #CCG

I started playing #FFXI 24 years ago, but I stopped playing in 07'. Max level I ever got was 74 whm and 73 bst. 19 years later I picked it up again and now have bst at 76 for the first time! The changes that have been made after I left are vast, but make it possible for me to revisit Vana'diel.

I can now send and receive emails using #PlayOnline! Some might not remember that #ffxi runs using PlayOnline which at one point had an actual Email client in it. I set up a local proxy server however and now I can use PlayOnline as an email client. The PlayOnline app was ahead of its time.

I wonder if people will start including intentional mistakes like misspelling, poor grammar, random mixed slang, in their online writing just to avoid it being labeled as AI generated. Kinda like the flaws in home made goods that people like because it shows it's not from some large corporation.

I've been working on a side project for a little while to keep track of my notes. It uses an automatic categorizer to file notes for me so I don't have to decide where the notes go, they just get stored to where I want. I published some details about it on my blog. #dev #programming #organization

At work, I’ve been required to do a lot more with AI. I work at Google, so AI is pretty big there right now. And while I do find that I have to write less code and spend more time describing structure...

There's apparently going to be a ballot proposition to add a new tax to pay for and improve our local libraries. I can't imagine voting no on such a thing. The value per dollar a public library brings to a community is astronomical. It's one of the best investments a town can make.

I'm writing code in #VisionBasic for the #C64 on a #C64U and finding that I'm actually using the printing feature. Since I can only view 24 lines at a time and scrolling has it's challenges, printing out the code onto paper as a reference for making changes ends up making sense.

If they can't detransition us at civilian conversion therapy camps, they will now try to detransition us with government run conversion therapy camps in the form of prisons. If this stands, the only thing left is the outright criminalization of trans people.

BREAKING: Trump admin issues new policy aimed at ending transgender-related care in federal prisons. "It's a really dangerous policy,” an ACLU lawyer representing trans people in federal prison suing the Trump administration tells Law Dork of the new Bureau of Prisons policy.

In Germany, eventually the Nazi party was defeated, destroyed, and no longer exists. I look forward to that future with the Republican party here in the US.

I've switched my main desktop and new gaming laptop from #Windows to #Linux. I used Windows mainly for #game compatibility. However, with Proton advancements in Steam and the increase in ads and poor behavior in Windows, it felt ok to do Linux full time again. So far it's going well.

There always seems to be a large backlash against using #AI for art (which I agree with), and yet that vitriol disappears when talking about AI for coding. Sure, there's the "slop" element of bad, unsafe, hard to maintain code, but a lack of the moral outrage of stealing like you get with art. Why?

I was shown an ad for the new Commodore 64 Ultimate and I ordered one. While waiting for it to arrive (probably in many months), I've been playing around with an emulator and "dialing" in to a few #BBS still running on #C64 hardware. Man, I will say it is neat. I think I prefer this over discord.

Stop using #plex. I don't know who needs to hear this, but Jellyfin is free, based on the same code base, and without features gated behind a subscription (also open source!)

I finally tried out the #Razer #DeathAdder Pro V4. And man, what a downgrade from the V2. I can't believe it ever gets positive reviews. The battery refuses to charge. It's so light that when plugged into charge, the cable torque can lift it off the desk sideways. It's light and flimsy feeling.

I'm not sure when or why this started, but somehow #AI has become associated with a people to blue gradient. I'm starting to see a lot of AI things with that splash of color.

I got a recruitment email from DOGE which is hilarious to me. Not only because some Nazi department would think I would want to work for them, but don't do during a government shutdown where they can't pay employees.

Enshitification has been saving me a lot of money recently. First I saved $360 canceling my #xbox ultimate game pass which I've had since launch (and I've had xbox live since beta) due to a 50% price increase. Now I've cancelled #discord nitro because I'm not paying to see ads in my app.

I had to return the MacBook I just bought (without opening it) because they released new AirPods. The computer came with free AirPods and they were updated between the time I ordered and received them. Unfortunately they wouldn't do a swap in store so I have to wait a week for my computer again.

I did some research looking for a laptop to program #Godot on and wrote a post about the research process. I surprisingly went with a MacBook Air M4 due to battery life, build quality, and touch pad controls specifically for Godot and Aseprite. #GameDev

Day to day, I normally use my desktop for game dev along with any other programming and gaming that I do. However, there are times where it is useful to be able to have a portable machine so that I’m ...

My computer stopped working yesterday morning. Wouldn't post at all. Had to emergency order a new MB to be delivered overnight. Installed it this morning and it all works again. I was however reminded how unsettled I am when my computer is out of commission.
