This is a gigantic moment in time for me - after being a fan for decades, I finally saw Linkin Park live 🤩 The concert was amazing! Emily Armstrong sounds great! I still can't believe that I saw Mike Shinoda with my own eyes 🤯

I think it's curious that with dog ownership, the biggest injury potential stems from the dog being a major trip hazard. Not me running into things because I stumbled over my dog yet again...

But what I loved the most about my trip to Japan was how it instantly snapped me out of my obsession with work. You just can not think about experiments or statistical calculations when you have to navigate the Tokyo Metro system to find your hotel. I probably need more of that in my life 😅

It's been years since I experienced real winter - #Japan reminded me of how much I love the cold, and seasons, and drinking hot tea when the wind is freezing your face off. Also, I never liked train rides, but the Shinkansen was something out of this world! So fast and comfortable 😮 #Travel

To be honest, as I was sitting on an airplane for 8 hours I was a bit unsure about my own decision to spend Christmas alone in Japan this year. But the trip turned out to be an amazing experience, and now I think I should do this more often! #Travel #Japan

New paper out in JCI Insight: PhIP-Seq uncovers marked heterogeneity in Acute Rheumatic Fever Autoantibodies. ARF is a serious sequela of Strep A infection. While autoantibodies are known to drive pathogenesis, the specific human protein targets remain unclear. Link: doi.org/10.1172/jci.... 1/5

Is Australia finally growing on me? 🤔 Realised today that some of my favourite life memories are of situations that happened in Oz. Maybe it's just a very slow process...

I don't know how to provide travel advice for Cairns to a friend who's never been to Australia without slightly scaring them... I mean, crocodiles and children-sized bats?! I'm not making this up! 😅

The question is... will American car drivers run me over if I decide to cycle through Atlanta? American roads really are not super bicycle-friendly...

Absolutely mind-blown that my undergraduate Microbiology professor, Barbara Spellerberg from Ulm University, watched my talk at #LISSSD2025 today and then came to say hi. The last time I saw her was about 14 years ago and she remembered me!!! 🤯
