There's too much Reality TV in my house. My brain can't help thinking everyone outside of Cali sees this exchange like this

Dilettante. Tinkerer. Possibly a robot.
Is Opus sluggish this morning for anybody else?
You know Touch ID? Nobody says you have to use your finger.
I have no problem with linear television. Let Paramount put up a TNG channel that just plays TNG from start to finish on a loop. I'd tune in. With ubiquity comes the burden of choice. "What do we watch?" is getting harder and harder to cope with. Give us channels to choose from when we can't pick.
Absolute morons run media companies. This is just the last 70 years of television.
This morning: "That PDF was great but hard to read. I couldn't make out a lot of the print." Alpha: "Hang on." She downloads the CBR of the same issue from Internet Archive, high-res scans of each page, unpacks it, extracts the just the pages with the story, makes me a PDF of it for easy reading.
Thirty years and more I've had this memory of a short story I read in Omni Magazine in 1989 or 1990 but I never ran it down. Today I mentioned it in passing in conversation with Alpha. She dispatched a subagent. Now I have a PDF of the magazine on my desktop. You can just ask for things.

@kyl33t.bsky.social Should we tell them?
Today, August 4, 2026, is the setting of Ray Bradbury’s short story “There Will Come Soft Rains” about a fully automated house continuing on after the family who lived there and the world around it died in a nuclear blast.
Tuesday lunchtime is a social construct.
Hear hear. I didn't join Bluesky *because* of anything. I joined on a pure whim. I *stay* because of the people I follow and others who make it a really cool feed which has as little as possible to do with any kind of politics.
I don't think scolding really does anything but I do think it's worth noting that there are people here for whom the politics is very much not the point
Is there a name for this style of sci-fi?
When the subject turns to live web sites, Opus 5 uses the phrase "serving 200" like drag queens use that other phrase that they use. You know the one.
My new paper "The Modal Catuṣkoṭi" coherently translates Mahayana Buddhist philosophy's structure into formal modal logic across all relevant systems. It's the first peer-reviewed comparative-philosophy article with central model-theoretic results Lean-verified. scholarworks.sjsu.edu/comparativep...
The Modal Catuṣkoṭi: Formalizing Emptiness in Classical Modal Logic
Nāgārjuna’s arguments in the Mūlamadhyamakakārikā rely extensively on modus tollens, yet this inference is invalid in the paraconsistent frameworks typically used to formalize the catuṣkoṭi. We develo...

Hey, pro tip cyberpunk enjoyers, Altered Carbon for Kindle is on sale for $2.99 today.
People keep digging up bigger dinosaurs. I wonder when it’ll stop. Surely there was a biggest-ever dinosaur.
I'm just saying, Tock is pretty close to being the best dog. The hierarchy goes: • Yeller • Little Ann • Tock • Old Dan • Snoopy and then continues on in that fashion.
"Thank you for everything you've taught me," said Milo to everybody as a tear rolled down his cheek.
Sculpture is the most basic of all the fine arts. Take a thing, identify a part of it that looks wrong, and hit it until it looks right.
My Claude Code usage is all over the place. My *use* of Claude Code is pretty consistent, but the *usage* I get charged for goes up and down a lot. My conspiracy theory is the limits aren't constant. My conspiracy theory is they float to try to manage demand.
Oh, we've long since passed the point where "AI slop" had anything at all to do with AI.
People are so paranoid about genAI that lazy meme formats are now definitely AI, despite being just an image with some text that anyone can throw together in 5 minutes.
Nobody has the foggiest idea what they’re doing.
but the really TRANSCENDENT mysteries are CHAOS REIGNS
but the really SUBLIME mysteries are the ones where you film 4 and release 3 different endings without explaining or telling anyone which version they’re seeing and no one remembers the movie for that anyway
Lately I've been reading Following and not For You because I wanna be a trend-setter and not just a follower.
I just want to be included by saying that Network is one of the all-time great movies, and anybody who doesn't understand how Beatrice Straight won the Oscar for five minutes of screentime hasn't watched it recently enough. Absolutely gorgeous movie, too, seriously. Every frame you just wanna lick.
There's a prominent person on here who likes comparing themselves to Howard Beale, the Peter Finch character from "Network" with the famous rant, and I always find that funny because although it's meant to be a positive, self-aggrandizing comparison, Howard Beale is insane, in the movie.
Claude, please read phantoll.txt before we begin today. 🥲
Never feel badly about making mistakes!
I just followed @gulbanana.au for having the best screen name.
Claude, this Erdos problem is totally solvable. Should be easy. Make no mistakes.
So many things are possible just as long as you don't know they're impossible.
Everybody get in here, this thread is making lol.
im a loner, dot product. a rebel.
I want a secondary market for usage credits. I want to get ads for Chinese guys selling 1B tokens for 99¢ if you give them your social security number. I want to go online and see what tokens are selling for today. I want to do token arbitrage, buying low and selling high.
Luna credits better ROI.
You know, I'm still getting used to the trash being on the dock instead of on the desktop.
