This vulnerability is OMGWTFBBQ level of seriousness. wp2shell is a pre-authentication RCE in WordPress Core. No login, no plugins, no preconditions. An anonymous attacker can hit a stock install and take over the site. The worst WP security vulnerability in a long time. Update!
If you’re waiting til Monday to update WordPress sites to 7.0.2 or a patched version, you’re really playing with fire. According to Patchstack, the vulnerability is already being exploited. Also, you’ll need to look for any users who are admins that you didn’t create.
