I'm so infuriated that children have died in Texas because of silicon valley tech bro bullshit libertarianism like Retire All Government Employees (RAGE) from Curtis Yarvin. Which was then encapsulated in Project 2025, then executed by DOGE. They've had real world consequences. Fatal ones.

I like that "Taskmaster" is trending on Bluesky every Thursday/Friday. 😁 If you haven't watched it yet, it's so much fun. For the first time the show has an American as a contestant. Jason Manzoukas brings an element of delightful chaos to the show that I'm very much here for.
The petition to revoke ICE’s permit for their Portland building is almost at 15k signatures! Just about 50 signatures away. Have you signed it yet?

I built a Bjorn! He’s trying hard to find insecurities in my network. Maybe I’ll throw out a Postgres instance with a weak password to see if Bjorn will find it.
This is why when Democrats put their faith in law, I know we're truly doomed. Oregon law is that LEOs aren't supposed to be doing this, but who's stopping them? What's the consequences? Quis custodiet ipsos custodes? Laws are weaponized against us but don't protect us. We protect us.

If you don't think this is coming for you, look at Portland 2020 when the same types of people showed up and tear gassed the shit out of us. The difference is now that the courts have given them air cover, and nobody has faced any consequences for anything in 2020. #thentheycameforme
Unbelievable! Today, San Diego witnessed a government-sanctioned kidnapping. ICE stormed Buona Forchetta in military gear ripping workers away, then unleashing tear gas and smoke on the terrified community. Full on police state, fascism now used on American citizens. Stay aware. #OnYourSide
3 day weekends are less fun when I have the destructive force of my boys and their friends. Good news, I have a Planka chore board to get back on track. 😁

Working with Rust lately has taught me that I find myself more concerned with rapid prototyping and speed of delivery over correctness in my projects. I’m finding Typescript and Go to be a good combo for this. I really want to figure out how to do more Rust but I think it’s just not time yet.
A minute in to Cory Doctorow's Pycon Keynote and he's not holding back 🔥 About Enshitification, obviously.

Got my tickets for @hackboat.org. 2025 is going to be security focused for me, the nautical nature is an homage to my Kubernetes roots. 🚢

My cat took a baby bird out of its nest. I’m trying to take care of it. Here’s a dark-eyed junco baby that depends on me now.
💯 Look deep in your neighborhoods and communities. There are groups who are working hard to keep everyone safe. Mutual aid networks are there. If you can't find mutual aid networks, time to roll up your sleeves.
If you are looking around wondering where the helpers are, remember that a lot of the help isn't safe happening in the public view right now. Helpers are helping, but a lot of us are doing it quietly.
I feel this deep in my bones. For me it's the fire I have to build technology and offer it for free to better humankind. I still believe in a future where knowledge saves us. That future can't be monetized. When you ask the question: "How can we make money on this?" It's a race to the bottom.
I really wish I could describe GenZ what it felt like growing up in a miracle. My grandfather on my mother's side was a dentist. He had a grand encyclopedia collection and it was just this incredible thing. You could pick up a random book and go to a random page and just be regaled with information

Experimenting with Qwen3 on ollama. I decided to talk to it in Spanish, but it's interesting that it "thinks" in English.
Happy Friday! May your tests stay green, your circuits connect, and your deploys be non-eventful. 😁
I just can’t bring myself to write Go anymore. Between Typescript with Node, Python, and Rust I have all my bases covered.
Feel like I’m winning back my kids from the brain rot a bit when I can walk them through a thought experiment of a moneyless society
I got laid off over a year ago and it has still impacts me to this day. The role I was in was the high point of my career. I feel for the people who are getting laid off. It's a really shitty experience. It has nothing to do with you and everything to do with unabated capitalism in tech.
Why does Google Meet allow me to switch from phone to desktop but not the other way around?
The protest was so big that it’s impossible for the media to ignore. The protest won’t change trump but it’s not for him. It’s for us. Seeing your neighbors and knowing we’re in this fight together.
I tuned into a Portland budget working session. I know more about the city budget than I should. I hate this. I could do so much more with that brain space.
This year's Kubecon looks like it was 🔥 I wish things weren't so on fire around me that I could have gone. I've got some good stuff coming up though
