Someone described grief as a feral emotion to me yesterday. It is staying with me. Grief disrupts. It makes people uncomfortable. And yet, it triumphs, breaking social norms about how we're supposed to show up. It is wild.

Need a break from the news? Here are a few quiet moments from our shoot in Laredo, Texas. We’ve been working on a new documentary about water, community, and the infrastructure that shapes life along the border.  More soon, but for now enjoy the zen!

Just a thought: How about we stop shaming the poor for buying things that may not be essential, and start shaming the rich for making a profit off things that are essential?

Dr. Jane Goodall’s passing has hit me hard. It feels so dark here right now and she was fierce in her conviction to keep hope at the center. I’m so grateful I had the opportunity to do an event with her ages ago. She was a real one.

I’m traveling to Montana and Minnesota in October. It might be the most autumnal experience I’ve ever had to date. In SoCal our trees have two seasons: leaves and no leaves. Very excited for crisp air, water, mountains, and beautiful amber and vermillion foliage 🍁

Trying to follow all the raids in my little LA suburb has been exhausting. In case folks are curious, this is how widespread it was… today. And it’s not all of LA even pictured here. This is just the east part of the County in my neck of the woods.

ICE has been infesting LA communities the past two days. National guard on their way and threats from garbage person Hegseth to send marines. Tomorrow there are reports of raids coming right to my front door here in Whittier. State sanctioned terrorism. This is America.

Climate change is causing strange rainfall patterns in Palestine. That compounds the devastation of Israel’s weaponization of water.

I’m such a nerd with how excited I am to see Bring Her Back. It’s like pulling a handbrake in an otherwise normal conversation. One minute, we’re talking weather, the next, my eyes are ablaze and my hands shake as I ramble on about a niche, disturbing A24 horror film. Yes, I am well-adjusted 🤗

From Ari Aster’s LA Times interview on his upcoming film, “Eddington” 🎯 “We have no control and we feel totally powerless and we’re being led by people who do not believe in the future. So we’re living in an atmosphere of total despair.”
