I have similar thoughts about a place in Oxford that is dear to me: The Eagle & Child, also known as the pub where the Inklings used to gather (Tolkien, Lewis, etc.). It's now owned by an AI institute funded by an insufferable Silicon Valley tech billionaire with dangerous ideas about AI. Grotesque.

The news that Americans bought the tourist operations of Bran Castle in Romania (often referred to as 'Dracula's castle' – but actually that was Poenari Castle, a less tourist-friendly ruin) and decorated it like Spirit Halloween threw up all over it sure is upsetting.

Name a fictional character's death you haven't gotten over. My journey with this man was a roller coaster, and he’s my second fav character in Black Sails. I don’t know that I can ever watch the episode again. Ugly crying. Shattered. But also? It stirs up some fight. Here’s to Captain Vane. 🫡

Name a fictional character's death you haven't gotten over. Ah, Riley. So this is a very recent one since I finished Midnight Mass a few days ago, and those who have seen it know how shocking/impactful/sad this scene is. Very good series, too.

Rochester this, Rochester that, at least Rochester is aware he's kinda terrible. St. John Rivers though? He SUUUUUUUUCKS, and he's exactly the type you can't call out unless you come armed with a metal chair and that still wouldn't bust out the stick up his butt

Le Temps des Cathédrales came on my playlist when driving home today & I was transported back to one of my secondary school French classes where we studied Notre Dame de Paris. The singer here is Bruno Pelletier, a Québécois singer (Canadian), who played Gringoire! open.spotify.com/track/3YGu8R...
