My perennial conundrum: working on a book that has room for 10-ish animals, when the list I've created includes more than 40. Every time I cross someone off, I feel their cries of "am I not GOOD ENOUGH for this book?!" So yeah, please keep buying books about animals so I can keep making them!

We need to start recognizing more how Gen AI is directly screwing with our sense of wonder and respect of nature. Every dumb pic of some yassified BS creature pollutes what’s REAL- both environmentally and psychologically. Some ppl are ogling birds with glass feathers while real ones go extinct.

It’s World Oceans Day! I’ve got some books for that. 💙 I've always thought the oceans are just like women - deep, vast, powerful, multifaceted, and (most importantly), completely underestimated in most ways. Grab any at your fave bookseller! #WorldOceansDay
It's also a good time to note that different kids need different books, and by even mildly insinuating that what they love isn't "good", they will interpret that to mean *they* are not good. A good book is one a kid loves to read. Nobody needs more shame heaped upon them - whether writer OR reader.

We certainly didn't NEED it. But, you know. It IS what we do. Kids deserve all sorts of great books. So let's make them.

A little thing I do on Earth Day is try to envision all of the animals that were born on the same day as me and send them all a little hug. We’ve all been growing along together. If we all do this, every animal would be covered. 💙 #EarthDay
