A new Kino Border Initiative report sheds light on Mexicans deported to Nogales between May and June 2025. More than half of the deported people had lived in the U.S. for at least six years (some >30 years), and a third of them had been initially arrested by local law enforcement.

Good news. Proud of the El Paso community, which has secured an important victory in one of the most challenging circuits in the country against #SB4. SB4 is the law that would have allowed Texas to create its own immigration enforcement parallel system. Link below.

Unfortunately, Kilmar's testimony of the horrors at CECOT reminds us that giving a pass (when not actively being complicit in) human rights violations abroad ends up in brutality for the most vulnerable *here* and *there.* www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

We’re at a turning point. This reconciliation bill will devastate entire communities, create a mass surveillance and policing state, and increase deaths in migrant detention centers and poor communities. As in the 1980s, its impacts will be felt across generations. www.osvnews.com/breaking-sen...

The US renditions of Venezuelans to El Salvador have attracted more attention to Bukele's state of exception. He is losing control over the narrative and increasing repression as a result—an example of how border externalization and the erosion of democracy go hand in hand.

Cruel rules at the US-Mexico border came so fast and frequently that we're still seeing rulings in cases brought against the Biden administration. Yet, this one is a positive sign in favor of US asylum law, which protects persecuted people who arrive at US shores.
