Background: The outside of a small gothic mausoleum. The photo is taken from the corner, showing the arched entrance on the right and an arched window on the left side. Duotone filter: berry and black.

I understand there will be a book of condolence opened following the passing of Rod Liddle, at which a very long line of people are expected to queue up in order to speak ill of the dead.

I don’t imagine old Binface is actually going to win, but how delicious it would be if he ran the twat-fascist close! Impossible task though. I reckon some of the cunts in Clacton would vote for the Yorkshire Ripper if he promised to kill some migrants in order to appease their bigotry.

The Manchester mayoral election turnout (25%) is proof that many voters neither care about nor understand democracy and wouldn’t even notice if their apathy led to Fascists governing them. Fuck people. When the shit hits the fan, some of us will remember who opened the doors to the monsters.

#HorrorWritersChat I do. Would you like me to tell you? Alright then… Rhubarb. I should unpack that. I LOVE eating rhubarb stalks. One of my favourite things. However, the leaves are packed with oxalic acid. Eat some of them and your kidneys will cease to function.

#HorrorWritersChat “Alan Titchmarsh there, reporting from the Chelsea Flower Show. Tomorrow his Majesty the King will be planting a commemorative tree…hold on…did I just see Alan take that man’s head off with the edge of his spade? I hope that didn’t go out. Did that go out? Jesus Christ.”

The strange compulsion to reach out and touch one of the plants overtakes you. As your fingers touch the petals, they tingle. You freeze, watching tendrils reach out cautiously from the plant. "The roots dig deeper into my veins, foxgloves sprouting from my skin." Finish it. #HorrorWritersChat

#HorrorWritersChat Fashionably late… Jez/domestic liminal At the risk of repeating myself, The Thing! The organism is comprised of many life forms including plants. In the 1951 film it’s referred to as an ‘intellectual carrot!’

#HorrorWritersChat My monster is Lionel Metcalfe. He’s your next door neighbour. He always says ‘hello’. Keeps himself to himself though. And also, there’s that’s odd drilling noise you keep hearing through the connecting wall in the middle of the night…

#HorrorWritersChat It was Grandma. The rising water table had brought her up out of her shallow grave beneath the crawl space. She hated being the family secret. So, when she came back, she made us pay.

#Horrorwriterschat Q3. You know I'm going to make you do microfiction. Well not make, per se. But make. You know. And as it's St. Swithin's Day today, let's not make things come true, eh? Or, you know. Do you. Use your discretion. Ahem.

#HorrorWritersChat I tend to use ‘the turn of the day’ to convey the passage of time, although, if I think about it, this tends to be morning becoming afternoon, rather than the slow shift from light to dark. I’m trying to set more stories ‘outside’. I still think ‘outside’ has ‘interiority’.

Eryn McCee@erynmccee.bsky.social · 3w ago

#HorrorwritersChat Q2. Our St Swithin's Day is a thundery affair. Ironic, as the story unfolding just now in real life is also a thundery affair. But we are talking about stories, ahem. As you were.

#HorrorWritersChat Yup, it’s Jez ‘don’t mention gaming’ Conolly ☺️ Now, I live in North East Scotland for a reason. I’m definitely a cold weather person. I write best when the temperature is in single figures (Celsius, obviously) Other than that, I don’t care what the weather does.

Q1 #HorrorWritersChat. You know the drill. No links to your books till the promo at the end. Engage with each other, lets gets some horror talk flowing.

Very sad to learn of the passing of Sam Neil. Just about my favourite film of his is the underrated ‘Dean Spanley’. It’s a strange and wonderful film, and Neil is terrific in it.
