"Well, spit." That's how my mother would curse; her Catholic upbringing stayed with her thru Last Rites. This is our Penelope's last sunset. A fractious little tuxedo who bossed around much bigger cats in her home. 15 years ago, Dr. Rose saved her from a farmer's barn in Ohkay Owinge...

Sunset last night in New Mexico, wispy clouds scattered across the twilight and a piñon tree stands sentinel to the right.

End of the month means another big payment on the farm. Owner won't split the house from the 40 acres so we're stuck here, hoping for a better solution than packing the horse trailer with catteries and driving the RV back east to the real world. New England or maybe Canada. DM for donation deets.

Two ginger kitties at rest...Bill looks off to his left while archaeological snoozes.

Senator Bernie Morano was a big tough guy today, hurling F-bombs and swearing attacks on Dr. Fauci. I would've been more impressed if Moreno had spoken out, even once, about his daughter being beaten and abused and his granddaughter's collar bone being broken by Rep. Max Miller.

Mikki's sunset. These sad words won't suffice. The hardest part of saving them is seeing them go. He and Murphey were picked up running loose in Cimarron; a TX SUV was seen leaving them behind. We took them in; Blue Rose of Hope Animal Sanctuary specializes in cats, but this was meant to be.

Smoke from a nearby wildfire turned this sunset extra pink.

Rayado Mesa, Miami, NM is burning. Prayers for responders fighting the heat (96°) and winds. Wishing and hoping (Dusty Springfield, anyone?) Dr. Rose doesn't look out the window til I get home from sammich shop. Triggering...

So the 3 brothers were away from the garden, and we closed off their access to under the farmhouse (they can go into the mobilehome). Now if the skunks are also out, we're golden. If they're still down there, not so much. Schrodinger's skunks. Message us for donation info...stop these lamo jokes.

Ms. LePew came into the garage one night to sample the kitty kibble. My brother, the Sanctuary's major donor (thanks, Patrick, for wiring the $$$ this week instead of sending a check), saw something we wrote about skunks and told me, "We just want to know the $ isn't for rescuing skunks." Nope.

Fluffy black-and-white skunk tucks into our garage bowl of kitty kibble.
