This is something not many know, billionaires do not spend their money, they leave it in interest bearing accounts and take loans against it. There are no taxes on the money you get from a loan, but if you just keep borrowing against a growing fortune, the loans will be discharged when you die.

Our big problem is that the super-rich have figured out how to avoid income taxes (by using borrowed money to pay expenses), and nobody else wants (for good reason) to pay higher taxes than billionaires.
