3 years ago today, we lost alt.rock musician and singer-songwriter Mark Lanegan at the age of 57. He was a co-founder of Screaming Trees and was also a member of Queens of the Stone Age and The Gutter Twins.

One (among many) reasons I liked a college senior I interviewed recently was that she unselfconsciously used the phrase "kitty corner," which we used all the time back in the Paleolithic, but which I rarely hear these days.
