California's laws are VERY pro-tenant, to the point where I'm shocked this sort of thing doesn't happen more often. Even in cases where the tenant is clearly in the wrong, as here, it's a long, expensive process to remove them.

OK, I have thoughts. Hurrying up getting more units produced is a good thing. The housing shortage is real. But increasing the number of *rental* units isn't fixing the overall problem. It will make the landlords richer without breaking the never-ending cycle of rent increases. Thread for deets.
