I’ve used Day One off and on over the years. I checked out Apple’s Journal app when it first came out, but wasn’t too impressed with that early version. However, I recently looked at it again and can actually say it might be an app worth using now given how infrequently I do journal. Maybe I can bu…

The outer bands of Hurricane Marie are rolling into SoCal. I’ve watched the humidity climb 10% in the last couple hours. We are forecasted to get rain tomorrow, which we need badly. I hope some thunderstorms come with it too. I love me some thunder and lightning…

I changed up the layout of OutPost for Mac this morning. I feel the dual sidebar layout works far better on larger screens and is more “Mac-like” in its look and feel. I might be close to having other people test it for real.

The main editor window for the OutPost Micropub editor.

Teasing some screenshots of my in-progress Micropub editor app, via the very app itself. How very meta of me (no, not that meta)… https://cleanshot.com/share/L6x7v1W97Jq0m0LXXVym https://cleanshot.com/share/jvqtJ2PL1NpqfrYfRclS https://cleanshot.com/share/NvS8Rl7XJbH57Qjsn0db Plus, I wanted to t…

I’ve been patiently trying to get a coworker in a different working group to respond to an ask for a very long time now — too long really. I’ve been polite through all of it. Today, however, the big guns come out… I bet I get a response within a few hours.

🔖 Bookmarked https://www.normaltools.com/ Open a tool, do the thing, leave. No account, no download, and nothing between you and the answer. I somehow managed to stumble on to this site this morning. The dev related tools are pretty handy, but I especially liked the band name generator tool. I th…

Because I couldn’t wait to share them… Dice (left) and Moo Chi (right) from their Mutts in Need profile picture. They’ll be coming to their forever home today. Warning, this is going to be the first of many dog pics in my feed for a while.

Two small, alert black-and-white dogs with large upright ears sitting on a cream-colored bed and looking curiously at the camera.

Excited to say that we’ve been approved to adopt Dice and Moochie, the two cute rescued Chihuahau pups we met yesterday. Now we wait for the next steps from their foster. Hopefully they’ll be in their new home (ours) within a few days.

Tab Beniot was a great show at the Coach House last night, and is as good live as his recordings. I’m so glad we finally saw him. The last time we had tickets, we were both under the weather and decided to skip the show. Bucket list artist achieved. The opening act was The Zac Schulze Gang, a high…

Speaking of my site, I think I can finally say with 99.9999% certainty that I am satisfied with the design and functionality. It’s taken six months and several hundred commits, but it’s been worth it. In it, I’ve been able to reduce posting friction, so there’s no reason not to write.

Nick Gray from slashfriends.org contacted me yesterday, proposing I add a "/friends" page to my site. Since I was working on a blogroll page anyway, which is essentially the same thing, I pivoted and updated the page accordingly. I think it's a clever idea. The whole… https://slashfriends.org/about

I installed macOS Beta 27 on my personal daily driver yesterday. So far, it appears pretty stable, and looks a heck of a lot better. I did discover that Cache Out seems to have some full disk access problems, so I’ll need to work them out at some point this weekend.

I’ve been grinding pretty hard and fast on a bunch of different code-related projects over the last few weeks and am beginning to see the warning signs of a case of burn out on the horizon. It’s time to slow down on development projects for a while and just focus on writing more.

Okay… Setup for the smaller team all-hands is complete and tech-tested. Instead of taking three days, this one only took an hour. I can probably get it down to 30 minutes for the next one - which I’ve been assured there will be many more of. Such is life when you step up. Renaisance Man… Yep. That’…

I took a few hours to add a Webmention feature to my site today, letting those who’ve written a post on their site linking back to one of mine submit the link to the post so it shows up in my Webmentions. It’s what the Indieweb is all about - interconnectedness.

Announcing the new Indieweb is Punk Manifesto… We don’t need major platforms. We have the Web, keyboards, tools, and community. Pass it on. Staple it to a pole. Photocopy it. Put it on your own site. Link to it. Wear it. Oi! https://indiewebispunk.net/

Teaser… I had flash of inspiration to do a thing this morning, and I’m not sure why I didn’t think to do it sooner. So, cool thing (at least I think so) coming soon. Indieweb is Punk.

I spent some time working on my Micropub publishing app today, getting it to a good place for both Mac and iOS so it works with Micro.blog too. Now it’s time to dig into what it’s going to take to release it as a Test Flight version so others can try it out.

I love it when I’m browsing a random indieweb site and something about the design appeals to me, and then I suddenly realize “wait a minute, they’re on Micro.blog and that’s my **mnml** theme they’re using.” It’s cool to randomly see it in the wild every now and then, even without credit.
