WooHoo! Lisa Parshall and I just sent our review of the copyedits for Presidential Federalism: The Enduring Role of Presidents in Shaping National-State Relations back to Bloomsbury Press, five days ahead of the deadline!

Just when I thought I'd have a break between projects, the page proofs for Presidential Federalism with Lisa Parshall arrived this morning. That's about 3 weeks sooner than I expected.

Just submitted my proposal "Revitalizing Federalism in the Age of Trump: The States Respond, Individually and Collectively" for the 2026 Northeastern Political Science Association Conference in Providence, RI, this November.

Starts today: As the U.S. nears its 250th anniversary, now is the ideal time to better understand the Constitution. Harvard offers a FREE, nonpartisan, self-paced six-part course (about 30 minutes each) you can start anytime and finish when convenient. www.edx.org/learn/govern...

HarvardX: American Government: Constitutional Foundations | edX

Learn how early American politics informed the U.S. Constitution and why its promise of liberty and equality has yet to be fully realized.

No rest for the weary. Proofs for Secession and Self-determination in the United States: Culture, Conchs, and Pop vs Soda with Autumn Walden and Carolyn Phillips just arrived. Due date for responses is May 10.

Woo Hoo! Lisa Parshall and I just sent off our response to the copy edits for Presidential Federalism: The Enduring Role of Presidents in Shaping National-State Relations to Bloomsbury Press. Still looking at a November 12 release date.

Just returned from a great meeting of the New England Political Science Association in Burlington, VT. First time attending, found some new friends, got some great inspiration for current and new projects!

My paper, "Polarization and Presidential Power: An Explanation for the Increase in Use of Unilateral Power via Executive Orders," has been sent off to the panelists at the New England Political Science Association ahead of next week's conference. Yay.

Glad to see Swalwell is doing the right thing. Giving up a seat in Congress is not the end of a life (or career). If he is later shown to be correct (doubtful), he can always try a comeback - others have.
