Hey have you heard that River Ryan is older than the average pitching prospect? I wanted to see what recent history tells us about pitchers of his ilk. Are there any starting pitchers with this profile? So I did 3 quick studies to try to find comparisons. www.baseballamerica.com/stories/rive...

We are updating this all day. In some cases we are moving guys around a bit from their previous Top 30 rankings. For instance, new Giants SS prospect Joniel Hernandez has been impressing in the DSL. New reporting since our July 1 update, so up he goes. www.baseballamerica.com/stories/rank...

I studied the 21st century history of aces being traded at the deadline in rental deals. Maybe Tarik Skubal's return ends up a bit higher, but past returns illustrate the challenge the Tigers face in getting an excellent return. www.baseballamerica.com/stories/what...

What Kind Of MLB Prospect Return Could The Tigers Expect For Tarik Skubal?

Can the Tigers expect to recoup equal prospect value if they trade Tarik Skubal? Here's what recent history says.

I think the new format allowed players to also have a lot more in the tank when we got to the final round. Usually the best HR derby hitters in the first round run out of gas and are done for the later rounds. Not a problem tonight.

What Jordan Walker just did was pretty incredible. Swing after swing. One screw-up and it's over. Entire crowd (other than his family) against him. And he did it.

If the HR Derby intros are to be believed, here is the flow chart for Phillies fans on whether to boo or cheer the players. 1. Is the player a Phillie? If yes, cheer. 2. Is the player Mike Trout? If yes, cheer. 3. If answers to 1 and 2 are no, let them have it.

Rays C Nathan Flewelling has the signature moment of the 2026 Futures Game (so far). Pulls a pitch into the right field stands for a two-run HR. The Top 100 Prospect didn't crush it (96.5 mph, 365 feet), but it is the biggest hit of the game.

I appreciate some of the touches this year at the Futures Game. The Hartford Yard Goats on-field emcee is here. They just brought out Reading's Crazy Hot Dog Vendor (riding his ostrich as one should). The minors are awesome. Great to see it being brought to a big league park for a MiLB showcase.

Good battle between Rangers RHP Caden Scarborough and Dodgers OF Josue De Paula. De Paula had some good takes, but Scarborough struck him out with a slider. Then Alfredo Duno gives a ball a ride, but to the deepest part of the park. 106 mph off the bat, but just an F-8 to Walker Jenkins.

Brewers SS and No. 1 prospect in baseball Jesus Made had a very professional BP pre-game. Exceptionally easy swings but the line drives still carried. And he carries it over into the game with a single off Kade Anderson.

Rockies OF Roldy Brito showed a 30.9 ft/second sprint speed on that ground out. 4.09 to first, and Statcast is usually a tick slower on home-to-first than hand timed. Impressive speed.
