The discourse around Napster vs. Anthropic is not only maddening to me as a former copyright attorney, but seeing my friend and partner in that era of Internet policy, Aaron Swartz's, name dragged into it when no one believed in the importance of fair use more than him is maddening and angering.

Lithuania was 7% Jewish before WWII, and that was after mass emigration because of antisemitism. It's possible that upwards of 25% of the population of Lithuania was Jewish at its peak. When people say "There is no Lithuania without Catholicism" that also denies Jews their place in Lithuania.
"There is no Lithuania without Catholicism" naturally provokes the question "are you saying that The Last Pagan Nation In Europe did not actually exist until it became Christian", with an appropriately aggrieved tone
The refs just handed that drive to Cleveland. The NFL remains a league where close games are decided by the refs, not the players. It's so frustrating.
Hard to devise a better metaphor for the past decade and a half of Premier League football than Man City winning while playing with an extra man.
It feels like Anfield is a tinder box after that piss poor second yellow and two quick goals. I hope nothing bad happens.
There's a family in my life that annoys the crap out of me. The dad did me wrong years ago. And they keep showing up in my life in the most random and nonsensical ways. I can't decide if the universe is just messing with me or if they want us to be friends.
Is there a modern program in college football that has been worse at hiring head coaches than Michigan? Florida, maybe. Lloyd Carr happened by accident when Moeller acted a fool. Harbaugh happened because the alumni demanded it and the AD had no choice - they didn't seem to want him.
Glad Kyle Wittingham kept those two time outs in his pocket. I do not know who has been worse Wittingham, Beck or Underwood today.
And now Kyle Wittingham does not understand basic clock math and keeps his 2nd time out before the two minute warning. This Michigan team is not just bad, as a fan it's hard to see a way out of this.
Jason Beck overthinking again. This guy is horrible. I am sorry. I'm done with him.
I hope every dad of a 14-23 year old son is having a conversation with their boys about how to handle a situation like what happened at Cornell. I am. This is such a teaching moment for raising good men - don't assume your son will do the right thing. Make sure you empower them to do so.
The lack of accountability for NFL announcers and analysts in how they talk about Watson should be no surprise. Just like the lack of accountability for Steven Smith and Pat McAfee at ESPN. They are leaning into misogyny and toxic masculinity these days.
I got to watch college matchups of Brady v McNabb and Brady v Brees in person in law school. Pretty cool to think about that in retrospect.
Straight up: As a woman in football, this sucks to listen to. This week in particular.
If you read one thread today, this is the one. Thank you @maybell.bsky.social for always being such an amazing voice for victims of sex crimes.
People following the Cornell case keep asking the same questions about Jane Doe. Why did she text one of the men afterward? Why didn't she call it rape right away? Why didn't she see herself as a victim from the start? My last three articles take these questions on. 🧵
This is going to be unpopular with many: As a former Hill staffer, part of the deal you sign up for is you could make a mistake that blows up in your boss' face publicly. However, that doesn't mean we should be doxing said staffer. The member is the public figure. It's unacceptable. Be better.
I was in a fraternity. It's time to shut the whole system down. I just don't see the benefits anymore. There are exceptions out there that are good fraternities, and I feel bad for their members, but it's time. The system is too toxic.
It's like the landscapers for my neighborhood have access to my calendar. They know to come use loud equipment right outside my home office when I am on a video conference.
Sucks to lose a game on a missed blocking assignment by a backup in the game late for an injury.
I criticize, now I praise. Aaron Glenn absolutely made the right call going for 2 there. The analytics are clear on this.
Jets offense is much improved this year. They need Fashanu to be better against speed rushes. But it's much better. Unfortunately, the defense line is getting bullied by the Lions, and their secondary is still not good enough. Those were the two concerns heading into season w the defense.
Jets screw up another two minute drill. Both time management and play calling suspect at best. At least Glenn got using the TOs on defense right.
It only took three plays for Aaron Glenn to mess up a challenge. The quality control issues around challenges and time management shouldn't be hard to fix. Yet three games into season two they remain.
That Michigan vs Iowa game was a chessmatch of poor coach decision making that nobody wanted to win.
Two tipped pass catches, a ko return touchdown and a team that played not to lose means you lose by one. Wittingham has a lot of questions to answer. This isn't Utah anymore. Horriblly coached game.
