Went to the China Creek North park today, where Rebecca Dart has been cultivating a large & fulsome garden (w the help of volunteers) as part of a Seeding Stewardship program. It was all lush & pretty, so I took a picture of a bee carrying some serious leg pollen and other things. Props, Rebecca!

Avoided the street fests today because they’re being sponsored by all the wrong people, and decided to spend some time in a place of quiet with the mini-sketchbook getting to some overdue figure and clothing studies. "How do pants fall in the back?" said I. #sketchbook #figurestudy #penandink
Finds in the archives. Had a young, promising, & super funny cartoonist visit the studio, and wanted to give a glimpse of what the small-press deal was back in the day (btw, I want ‘zine review ‘zines back). Hope I didn’t wear you out with the lore, Maddie! Thanks again for coming by!
In honour of the brand new season airing tonight, the latest sketch cover rquest. This one for Flavia, a super talent and co-owner of One More Life Gallery in Van @ the City Center artist Lodge! #futurama #planetexpress #sketchcovers #traditonalart

Robin Bougie & Rebecca Dart show off the frog & panda I got them from yesterday's Powell Street Festival at the Kanadell bakery booth. Their life blood was red bean paste, and both are gone now (The sweets, not Robin & Rebecca). Thanks to Maria, Jackie, Tim & Beth for making it out for hangs!
Checked out the 50th anniversary Powell Street Festival with Susan today and saw, among many other things, a busy Jeff Chiba Stearns, who was celebrating the release of his latest graphic novel. Also rabbits. To my shame, I did not buy a beautiful import Godzilla shirt. #japaneseheritage #eastvan

Massive congratulations to Tony. IMO the only cartoonist going to truly recapture the grandness and craft of the best European adventure albums (there are some others who come real close & they'll get flowers, too).

More from the outdoor Drawbridge life drawing session. Studies of our lapin-themed model, Angora Phobia, with various time limits. #sketchbook #lifedrawing #figurestudy
Attended Drawbridge life drawing last night, a medieval themed sketch sesh held on an outdoor bridge over some railroad tracks. Only in East Van! 20 minutes sketches of our model, Angora Phobia. Thanks to @designerwhite for getting me out!
I really enjoyed this ‘zine studiomate @jeffreyellis.ca put together for VanCAF, which speaks to community building-- an art skill unto itself, and something that’s increasingly needed at a time when the treads of soulless systems threaten to role over all our gentle noggins. I got a lot out of it!
I paid tribute to Myron Manor collective in the latest comic, Black Sunday, because of the remarkable organizing efforts made in '26 to stay in their homes, & now it seems the matter is finally going to have its day at City Hall tomorrow. To learn more, check out defendmountpleasant.ca Resist!
Thinking about Jennifer Finch and the heartbreaking news of her health problems putting her permanently out of action. Love her and L7, & am super grateful to have seen her in full thrash mode at the Rickshaw in ‘22 for the anniversary tour of Bricks Are Heavy. Keep fighting, Jen.
An Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent shot and killed a man in a vehicle on Monday morning in Biddeford, Maine. It was the second fatal episode in a week, as the Trump administration continues its immigration crackdown.
#sketchoftheday: Drawn while decompressing from VanCAF last week at Mount Pleasant Park. Read new comics ‘til sun set.

The updated Black Sunday is now available at Lucky’s Comics (Main & 15th), tho in limited quantities due to VanCAF kind of cleaning me out. I’ll be going back to print on it soon. ‘Sunday’ is my little treatise on displacement and communal bonds... as well as the push back in our community.
‘Notes On The Fire’, one of my three new VanCAF releases, is now on the shelves at Lucky’s comics. It reprints the stories I drew about the E. 10th fire in the Mt Pleasant neighbourhood & the tenants' struggle to find justice, as well as updates looking at the Vancouver's housing issues.
After a full month of crunching 24/7 for VanCAF (is anyone hearing the sound of tiny violins playing?), fresh air today was welcome. Hanging at Mount Pleasant Park tonight, folding chair and all.
Had a Gillman sketch cover request from Ryan Heshka at VanCAF. Given that Ryan is Vancouver’s premiere creature feature artist, I knew I had to come correct! VanCAF is done. I had fun. A lot of people came by and showed love, which, believe me, I appreciate. My thanks to all involved.
My take on the beautiful program cover by @crablegscomics for VanCAF 2026. There again today, 10 am-5pm, Yaletown Community Roundhouse if you feel like stopping by. Free to attend!
My modest table set up today at VanCAF. Some items have sold, but more is in stock. Thanks to everyone who stopped in to give some love. Come by Sunday for day 2 at table E 7! @jeffreyellis.ca is in bg. You should visit him, too! The Roundhouse Community Center, 10am-5pm, free to attend!
