After reports circulated Wednesday night of the State Department's intent to purchase Tesla vehicles, the document was edited, at 9:12 p.m., and now says the federal contract is for $400 million worth of "armored electric vehicles," but the word "Tesla" was removed. www.npr.org/2025/02/13/g...

Is anyone really surprised? They won't push the confirmation hearing of anyone they dont already know has the votes. All of the confirmations are just formalities. If trump says he wants it, they will make sure it happens. The GOP is too spineless to go against him.

If the ABA has to call you out, you know you're doing wrong. If within their power, they should start stripping legal licenses from any attorney making bad faith arguments that trump is within his rights.

ABA It has been three weeks since Inauguration Day. Most Americans recognize that newly elected leaders bring change. That is expected. But most Americans also expect that changes will take place in accordance with the rule of law and in an orderly manner that respects the lives of affected individuals and the work they have been asked to perform. Instead, we see wide-scale affronts to the rule of law itself, such as attacks on constitutionally protected birthright citizenship, the dismantling of USAID and the attempts to criminalize those who support lawful programs to eliminate bias and enhance diversity. We have seen attempts at wholesale dismantling of departments and entities created by Congress without seeking the required congressional approval to change the law. There are efforts to dismiss employees with little regard for the law and protections they merit, and social media announcements that disparage and appear to be motivated by a desire to inflame without any stated factual basis. This is chaotic. It may appeal to a few. But it is wrong. And most Americans recognize it is wrong. It is also contrary to the rule of law. The American Bar Association supports the rule of law. That means holding governments, including our own, accountable under law. We stand for a legal process that is orderly and fair. We have consistently urged the administrations of both parties to adhere to the rule of law. We stand in that familiar place again today. And we do not stand alone. Our courts stand for the rule of law as well.

It's amazing how quickly people get mad when you question their narrative. I posted a screenshot from an article that shows the Mexican president agreed to 10,000 additional troops to the border, to curb misinformation being spread that she was reducing the amount of soldiers on the border.

NEW: Sources tell my office that Treasury Secretary Bessent has granted DOGE *full* access to this system. Social Security and Medicare benefits, grants, payments to government contractors, including those that compete directly with Musk's own companies. All of it.

Talking to a coworker (fellow union member) and he spoke about how higher wages will kill fast food. I just said that if a business can't survive while paying their employees a liveable wage, they shouldn't exist. You'd think I just killed a child in front of them by their anger at that comment.

I believe their supports are still in the honeymoon phase. While it feels like it's been a year already, it has only been a week. So, many are probably waiting for the payoff. As such, it will take a while before the negatives start really getting supporters to question their actions.

i will say that we have never experienced anything like an administration trying to essentially freeze the activities of the entire federal government while making a series of illegal power grabs. genuinely unclear to me what kind of response, if any, these guys are generating against them

Exactly why when I see trump do another questionable/illegal thing, I expect nothing will happen. We have seen it before, we will continue to see it.
