Very good, useful story. But not anything new. We’ve known the dangers of gambling for centuries, passed laws to control it, and banned it where it did the most damage. Yet here we are. Uncontrolled gambling is bad for a society. Simple as that.

Hey, ProPublica reporter Jake Pearson here. I’m taking over the account to tell you about my new story. For months, I posed as a problem gambler on DraftKings to test the company's "responsible gaming" safeguards. Spoiler alert: They made me a VIP — and I lost $10K. Here's how it all went down. 🧵

Unfortunately, that Trump lies and is a drooling idiot or Republicans are corrupt cowards isn’t news. We all know it so journalists don’t report it. Newspapers need new news to sell newspapers. That and corporations are complicit in hiding the obvious as self-protection.

Unfortunately, American journos do not regard allegations of #Corruption, #Racism, #Dementia, or even #Pedophilia against Republicans as "newsworthy". Now, if a Democrat left a bank with a ballpoint pen that wasn't his, that would require 24x7 news alerts.
