John tries, but misunderstands

Being a father is hard work and often exhausting. However, I do not expect anything in return, and nor should I. So, you can imagine how overwhelmed I felt when the 11yo presented me with this hand made card today. The awe and respect they hold me in makes it all the sacrifices worthwhile.

A father's day card made by my 11yo. There is a crudley drawn TARDIS flanked by Bart (left) and Homer (right). The message reads "Happy Farter's Day". The spelling is deliberate.

This is, in fact, a 1930 photo of two of England's greatest cricketers, Herbert Sutcliffe (aged 36, left) and Jack Hobbs (48). Jack's wife Ada is in the middle. Both opening batters, they had very modest upbringings; Jack grew up in near poverty, and Herbert was orphaned at 9.

Why can’t the young people of today dress like this? If they did they’d get a job and be able to afford a house.👍

Had to say goodbye SpiderCat today. It was very sudden, but she had a good 17 years. She spent her last day on Earth sunbathing in the garden, eating grass, complaining about the food in her bowls and living her best life.
