I see more post chastising parts of the left for ignoring AI. I don't know anyone who is ignoring it. I see people fighting against it and trying to bring attention to the harm it causes. I am very against this characterization that we're all sitting around with our fingers in ears. 1/

I am so thrilled for @abdulelsayed.bsky.social !! He is going to be an amazing senator and I wish CA had someone like him. The amount of Islamophobia that is going to be unleashed- already started- is going to make me sick. Every time that happens, I'm going to make a donation to his campaign.

I just have zero patience for a public intellectual IN THIS DECADE, pretending that environmental policy isn’t going to involve politics. Look around. Pay any attention at all. Yes, the 60-second ads will lack the nuance of a white paper. Industry ignores your white papers though.

Today, Gaza held one of the largest mass funerals in its history as two Palestinian families buried 112 of their relatives killed in Israel’s genocide. All across Gaza, hundreds of families just like them are still searching for the bodies of their loved ones. 🧵

I really like this because when you identify emissions as the cause, the solution is clear- end the emissions. When you say the cause is climate change, while true, it takes a minute to get to the solution and you lose people. End fossil fuel emissions, it's clear.

The missing words in the climate conversation are not human-caused climate change, but fossil fuel emissions. By Hayley Fowler and myself: theconversation.com/was-this-hea...

ICE is engaged in a very large escalation nationwide, with the agency claiming to be hitting record arrest numbers amid the return of quotas. This has gotten very little attention from the media because ICE learned lessons from the chaotic disasters of Kristi Noem’s tenure. Keep a watch.

WA Whistles@wawhistles.bsky.social · 4w ago

ICE is surging in the Seattle area. (Map shows activity in the last week) Do you have your whistle with you?

Map of ICE sightings from iceout.org, 7/1-7/8, showing Puget sound area between Fort Lewis and Marysville.

This is wild. 93% of the renewable electricity generation added to the Irish grid over that last decade now powers data centers, rather than reducing fossil fuel use. Data centers have pretty much annihilated the health and climate benefits those renewables could have provided.

Hannah Daly@hannahdaly.ie · 4w ago

What is even more striking is that data centre demand has matched 93% of the growth in renewable electricity generation (wind + solar + hydro) over the past decade. If we measure since 2020, data centre demand has grown nearly 3-times faster than renewable electricity growth.

In addition to all his blood red flags, Planter also polled badly with working class voters. So, again, we have elite and leftist bros claiming to be on the side of the working class while not actually talking to people who are working class.
