True love is when you call your wife to ask her to pick up a couple soft pretzels on the way home from her appointment and she doesn't answer -- because she's in line at the Philly pretzel factory.

Great morning so far at Abington Friends for the inaugural CoBL June Live Period Warm-Up. A dozen college coaches already here, games are competitive, atmosphere is terrific.

Spending most of the weekend at Spooky Nook (again) for the Girls' Under Armour and Select Events "Live at the Nook" showcases. Heading out there early this afternoon, will be there for coverage this evening, all day tomorrow and Sunday. Coverage up on CoBL by the end of the weekend.

I feel weird even writing HM D-I recruiting stories sometimes, because the kids won't acknowledge how much NIL factored into their decision. I've never once had a kid say to me "I chose there because it was the best financial decision" even though we all know it's part of (most of?) the deal.

The funniest thing in college sports the last few years is: 1. Every coach, admin, fan is like "we have to get as much $ as possible so we can buy good players and win in the portal" 2. Indiana football, Michigan basketball, etc. exist 3. "No our championship wasn't about MONEY, how dare you?"

Two more HS games for me this season. 6A girls championship next up: Upper Dublin vs. Dallastown. Cardinals won the 2018 state ‘chip and now make their return to Hershey.

GIANT Center slowly coming to life on the second day of PIAA state basketball championships. Delco Christian (29-2) vs. Williamsburg up first in the 1A girls’ game at noon. Delco Christian’s first trip here; Williamsburg (26-5) won the state title in 1997, its last appearance at this stage.

Devon Prep starters: Owen Raymond, Jaden Craft, Cooper Fairlamb, John Doogan, Braeden Fisher Obama Academy starters: Elijah Rawlings, Naron Jackson II, Zion Conner, Sheikh Long, Eric James

Sankofa Freedom started the Philly-area contingent’s weekend at the PIAA basketball championships off well. Warriors just avenged last year’s title game loss, beating Neighborhood Academy 55-52 in the boys 1A title clash. Nafis Dubose with 18, Nasir Brown 15. Coverage later on today on CoBL.

Playing in the program's fifth Sweet 16, the Holy Family women just advanced to their first-ever Elite 8 with a 78-62 win over Daemen (N.Y.) Freshman guard Ella Brown (Pennridge) led the way with 18 points off the bench. Skyler Seaross and Kaelah Carter added 14 each.

TJ Power just hit two absolutely TOUGH 3-pointers in the final eight seconds and Penn forced OT in the Ivy League championship game against Yale. He's got 40. What a game this has been.

Courtesy of an accident on 476, made it to Liberty HS juuuuuust in time for a PIAA 6A girls quarterfinal between District 1 champs Upper Dublin and District 2 champs Hazleton Area.
