This is the US so there is no immediate threat to women's sports in Canada, but reading about promotion of such blatant sexism is still quite shocking.

The Heritage Foundation asserts that women never needed sports in the first place. To prove that Title IX has become a tool of “feminist social engineering.” To demonstrate that women don’t need sports and that “clubs, intramurals, and exercise classes” is enough. open.substack.com/pub/jesspipe...

It is the long August weekend in Vancouver, with the downtown filled with crowds and festivities. Last night there were fireworks at English Bay and Sunday is the Pride parade. This is only a few weeks after all the FIFA celebrations. I love the Westend in the summer. Always lots going on!

Chronological age is often conflated with disability. There is a higher prevalence of disability and illness as a person ages, but steps can be taken to help prevent age-acquired illnesses. Discussing strategies is not ageist. However, articles on this topic often also contain ageist stereotypes.

It’s fun to go through this article and replace the word ‘ageing’ with the words ‘cancer’ or ‘dementia’. I don’t think longevity science is ageist—I want everyone to have a chance to be healthy, however old they are!
