Descriuen un mecanisme per poder eliminar les cèl·lules perjudicials originades per tractaments oncològics
Després de tractar un tumor amb quimioteràpia i radioteràpia, es poden originar unes cèl·lules que es coneixen com a senescents. Són cèl·lules que no es divideixen, estan involucrades en el procés d’envelliment i són resistents a la mort cel·lular, però encara són actives metabòlicament en el cos humà. Quan s’hi acumulen, poden posar en risc la recuperació dels pacients. Ara, una recerca liderada per la UB descriu per primer cop un mecanisme molecular que podria impulsar el disseny d’estratègies per eliminar les cèl·lules senescents en els pacients oncològics.
