While reading Buzzard, I was constantly reminded of a quote by one of my favorite authors, someone who also wrote dystopian stories, Octavia Butler. When asked about the problems and troubles faced by her characters in the books she wrote, she said- “ I didn’t make up the problems,” I pointed

Cover of the book “Buzzard” by Inez Ray. It is yellow with the title and author name in black, there are three symbols diagonally arranged on the middle of the cover, from the left an eye with a red tear, a crosshairs, and what looks like a nipple with a white drop

Sometimes I see a random craft and have to try it.🤷🏻‍♀️🤣 These are “bergamot boxes,” tiny containers made from the peel of bergamots(in this case oranges/mandarins). I formed these over small random spice containers until dry, then trimmed the edges and sanded smooth, painted with acrylic markers,

Two small circular bergamot boxes, each less than two inches in diameter. One has a pink eight pointed flower design painted on top and the other has a small design mimicking leaves and berries.

Devil of the deep by @falenciathestoryteller has almost as much depth and layers as the ocean itself. It is on the surface a story of pirates, mermaids, and a fleet of fanatics based in Haitian mythology. Devil of the Deep is multi-layered and beautiful. It has elements of real world problems,

Two copies of the book “Devil of the Deep” by Falencia Jean-Francois sit on a bookshelf, with several sea shells.

The perfect is the enemy of the good. I’ve been trying to organize this shelf of tools and supplies and I was procrastinating because the containers are mismatched and I wanted to make nicely printed labels that all matched nicely. Tonight I sat down and just grabbed some random stickers

A shelf with many small pencil cases in various sizes and colors holding craft and tool supplies, they all have labels made of stickers and the contents are written in sharpie.

I have wanted one of this style of sewing boxes for a long time. I prefer not to buy new and get things by thrifting, so sometimes you have to have patience because it depends on availability, etc. and sometimes they are just priced out of my range.

Today a lady on threads made a “joke” about semicolon tattoos. I don’t have one, because I’m Muslim, and believe it would be haram for me, but it is still an important symbol for me and many others. This isn’t really something to joke about, and I am glad we are all still here. #semicolontattoo
