Unwinding some past mistakes I made with the Google Reader API. This means I can finally support BazQux in the next release of Capy Reader.

I'm reworking Capy's sync engine to improve offline support. It's based on NetNewsWire's tried-and-true sync strategy. Here's a visualization of how the outbox database works via a debug CLI.

Getting close to releasing The Big Update for Capy Reader. Improvements to feed management, bug fixes around "mark read on scroll," and of course, a new widget option. You can check it out early in the nightly release. Feedback on bugs is very welcome!

Podcasts will be included as an experimental feature in the next Capy release. Put simply, this feature is meant to make podcasts playable. There are much better fully featured podcast apps if you want more!

FreshRSS labels have been an ongoing project in Capy Reader. I added article labels in the latest release. Here's a demo of how it works!

I've been heads down on performance in Capy Reader. I found one improvement resulting in a 20x speedup for long articles, 100ms down to ~5ms. I've also added a slight fade to complement the faster navigation speed. Demo below.

Kagi News has the feel of a Flutter app based on a few aspects. This is pure conjecture, and based solely on my curiosity on how apps are built. For starters, there are Material icons on both the iOS and Android apps, Material ripple effects on iOS. 1/2 #kagi #flutter

I was experimenting with Defuddle as the default content parser for Capy Reader, but at the end of the day, Mercury Parser's plugin system remains extremely useful specifically for reading news. Mercury will return as the default starting in 2025.10.1172.

The latest dev release introduces the "Sunset" theme based on Feedbin's own sepia tone theme. I'm hopeful that this helps personalize the reading experience while still putting the content up front. Let me know what you think! #capyreader #rss #feedbin

I ported over Mihon's theming system to Capy Reader tonight. This should also improve the pure black/OLED/E-Ink experience. It still needs some touch-ups, but you can try it out in the latest nightly build which installs a separate app alongside Capy Reader. #capyreader #rss

The latest dev release for Capy Reader is live on GitHub! Some highlights include initial support for basic auth in local feeds as well as patches for "Mark Read on Scroll" and local database perf.

I love RSS for following news sites, newsletters, and blogs, and you can even follow YouTube channels if you want! I use NetNewsWire for macOS (and iOS back when I used that) and Capy Reader for Android. www.citationneeded.news/curate-with-...

The next version of Capy Reader will reintroduce the "Mark All Read" button to the toolbar. The floating action button will still be an option, but I want to free up space for more complex UIs, specifically audio playback which will occupy the same bottom bar area. #capyreader #rss
