According to reporting by @theguardian.com, Orbán has conceded to Péter Magyar and the Tisza Party. After 16 consecutive years, Hungary will have new leadership, which is quite astonishing. Also astonishing is the clear and significant majority claimed by Tisza in a heavily gerrymandered country.

A fun fact about me: I’m a Hungarian citizen and could vote in the election happening in Hungary today. I haven’t supported Orbán or Fidesz since his first victory on an anti-Soviet platform in the late 1980s. In my opinion, Orbán and Fidesz have become poster children for government corruption.

Today’s NYT article is going to make a lot of my climate science colleagues angry and worried. Please remember that, yes, most climate deniers are Republicans. But, most Republicans are not climate deniers. The only way we make progress is by working together.
