CONNECTICUT Artist Ceramicist Sculptor Painter, making art for 50+ YEARS. (I just had major spinal cord surgery) My Art: https://CeramicShak.etsy.com gofundme: https://gofund.me/a115dee27 amazon wishlist: https://amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/1MD7M2280THT8

This is where I get it from....my ancestors are from all over the Americas, the USA southwest & modern day mexico, Teotihuacan, Mayan & Toltek, & Peru. (my ancestors come from North, Central, and South America. they were master potters. BUT IM NOT DONE YET.

an important part of making traditional native american pottery is hand polishing every square inch with a smooth polished flat sided stone. it compresses the clay & makes it very smooth & shiny and better to hand paint glaze. you can see the small stone i use on the pots in these pics. lots of time

i HAD 2 chairs to make all my stuff in. But i had to throw them both away, because my spine surgery wont let me to sit in anything without SOME kind of back support. So, i need a chair, any chair, really BAD. I had to add a cheap one to my amaz wishlist. its the cheapest 1 there. link in bio

i also make these leather handbags too. Each of these Octopus handbags is hand stitched, I NEVER use a sewing machine to make ANY of my leather items. Each of these is signed, dated, & numbered inside, & are limited edition. (limited to only 50 bags)

when i make my leather steampunk goggles for my collectors, first I make all the parts, hand punch all the sewing holes first then i dye the parts, then i hand drill the Lexan lenses, then i hand sew everything together, by hand. i make em in all colors. link to my etsy is in my bio.

this is 1 jar w/ lid that I wish i had gotten more pics of before it got bought so quickly. green copper patina glaze, and gold glaze on the ruvets , 2x fired in the kiln, final temp 2240 degrees F. this may be my only post today. Im in terrible pain. my links are in my bio if youre interested.

I AM PARTICULARLY INTERESTED IN MEETING ARTISTS IN THE CONNECTICUT (Hartford) area who want to learn the arts, or want to collaborate! ALSO, Im seeking a vacant workshop to make sculptures, art, paintings, pottery for long term lease, & I WANT APPRENTICES-HELPERS! simply reply below! it is time.

stoneware ceramic jar with lid i made. fired to 2250 degrees F. copper patina green glaze & gold rivets & in the channel that runs vertically down the jars front. fired 2 times, made from a very dark chocolate brown stoneware clay.

a really big water jug I made with feather motif, and rain/storm cloud motif. (sold) 15 inches wide. 2x fired, stoneware, only 1 glaze (cinnabar) on otherwise unglazed jug. as usual, made by hand , not on a potters wheel. (i dont even OWN a potters wheel) my links are in my bio last pic for scale.

this is another one of my miniatures. small bowl with 2 handles. twice fired stoneware. green copper patina glaze, with gold glaze on the lil rivets. one of my favorite combos. signed and dated on bottom. its only about 3" inches across. 1&1/2 inches tall at most. (sold) all my links are in my bio.

"the Gold Cup" A rare kind of ceramics I do, fired 3 times, (special reasons) the final glazing & firing deposits real gold on the surface,This was handbuilt, 1 of a kind, signed on bottom, (this one is sold, but I CAN MAKE CUSTOM REQUESTED GOLD CUPS IF YOU NEED. all of my links are in my bio

oh, i also make miniatures, like magic potion bottles, jars, mini animals, (Whenever i make a few BIG things, i always use the extra blobs to make stuff to add to the kiln to take up space.) again, everything was twice fired, MANY glazes used. stoneware (most are sold) all my links are in my bio.

Here is a blue Nautilus shell "vessel" (or maybe vase) I made. its glazed in blue with a little ancient jasper glaze dripped on the edges of the opening which gave a really nice effect. Signed on bottom. fired 2x. stoneware.(sold) all my links are in my bio.

here are pottery pics I havent posted yet. the REALLY BIG one is a special "chocolate bowl." with a rabbit inside. everything here is twice fired stoneware except for the small GOLD cup-bowl which has REAL gold & was fired 3 times. I will make a post about that by itself. all are signed on bottoms.

i HATE doing this, and I REALLY dont want to, but i keep being bugged & bugged by GOFUNDME that I havent shared my fundraiser enough. So, Im sorry, but heres the link. i feel shame posting it. gofundme: gofund.me/a115dee27 please forgive me. i wont post it again for at least another week.
