If the threat was credible enough for the president to be smuggled off the plane, there was absolutely zero reason for the plane to fly until the threat had been mitigated. Full stop. You don’t use a plane full of reporters and White House staff and service members as bait.

I ran a campaign for senate on this premise. If you believe this, that conviction compels you to fight everywhere, even in places like my home state of Kentucky. But despite what the DSCC, consultants, and many donors said, at the end of the day everyone acted like it was a normal cycle. Maddening

I think the fate of the United States will be decided this year. If Democrats can win one or both houses of Congress, we have a chance. If not, we don’t. The idea that we can ride this out until the 2028 election is a foolish notion. By that time, the U.S. would strongly resemble Putin’s Russia.

Spent the morning at the Little Bighorn National Monument , honoring the 150th anniversary of the battle between northern plains tribes and the 7th Calvary - or what the natives call “victory day.” It was powerful to see how much culture they’ve been preserved despite the best efforts of the U.S.

In 1932, Australia deployed its military to kill thousands of fast, crafty emus. A general noted the birds could “face machine gun fire with the invulnerability of a tank.” They ran out of ammo and retreated in defeat. Anyways, I like the algae’s chances.

Graduates boo mention of AI, cheer when the speaker mentions “a few years ago, AI wasn’t part of our lives.” Tracks with recent polling highlighted by @profgalloway.com which shows AI is relatively unpopular in the U.S.

this graduation speech moment is notable, and her amazed shock at having failed to read the room feels instructive. when you're inside the bubble, you think everybody else is. but everybody isn't.
