The new Canada's Changing Climate Report 2026 is a sobering read. Even if greenhouse gas emissions stopped tomorrow, the warming / impacts are locked in for centuries. I was a lead author for Ch 8 on extremes - lots of uncertainty. Please at least read the summary: www.canada.ca/content/dam/...

Hurricane Lowell has hammered Hawaii. But that's not the only interesting thing going on here. It was part of an unusual trio of hurricanes out in the Pacific that was made more likely by the extreme El Nino waters we are monitoring. Today the cleanup is underway, fortunately only one person died.

On August 23rd I followed a thunderstorm for 7hrs in eastern Alberta. The lightning was so intense, this is part 2 of the action. I got more jolts and bolts on film that night than I know what to do with. But man, what epic lightning. But I best warn you not to watch if you have seizures!

I'm back...but so are the kids to school. I got all the weather details for this upcoming week in western Canada, it's been a while so I got too much to talk about. Too much rain in the south prairies, stable weather in BC takes a slight downturn, some fires in the NWT.

It's already begun last night in northern BC and today in the Kootenays. This heat wave will get knocked back down by lots of rain and cooler temps. The prairies are gonna see more rain than they can deal with. Meteorological fall begins Sept 1st, we are moving out of summer a little bit every day.

Burn window does last long, we got a low coming through that will light us up with more lightning...but then the cooler weather and rain helps knock it right down. We start September cooler for a few days. We are starting to move out of the height of summer.

Sunday August 23rd, I went to the place under the Consort Alberta storm you probably shouldn't go. This aint my first rodeo. I got under a very mean thunderstorm near Consort Alberta on the 23rd. In this first segment I got my windshield cracked up pretty good, in the next video I'll put together the meso went right over me spinning and trying to tornado. It was an epic time.

New polygon alert system is going into effect I am told today. It was a little slow to get going but our thunderstorm pattern has definitely moved into the province now. It's going to expand in the days ahead. Every region in BC has at least some risk of seeing lightning in the coming days.
