something i’m kind of proud of in my digital portraits development is that without rendering to in extreme detail, i think you can read the youth/agedness of the faces
40 years ago i had to wear diapers and didn’t know how to feed myself. Things are a lot better for me now imo
Food, man. Food is so much better than it was in 1986. All of it. Poor-people food, restaurant food, fresh food, frozen food. Food is just a hell of a lot better.
"i don't wipe my ass. please dont put in the newspaper that i wipe my ass."
Oh my god the dietician who is telling everyone in the White House to only eat steak and sauerkraut doesn't wipe his ass.
this guy is one of a few "misinformation for liberals" creators on TikTok. he's been diagnosing illness & forecasting death based on clipped press conference footage of republicans for a while, and I'm sure, much like end-of-world prophecy, when we blow past the forecast date it does not phase him
X post sharing this still going viral about a “cover up” of McConnell’s dead body in Louisville even though he issued a retraction and deleted it today.
Getting into my groove with making up names on the spot in improv and D&D is making writing up course notes a little weird. I can't exactly be like "ReSamuel (a tortle in a mullet wig who believes he's the reincarnation of a guy named Samuel) is tough to draw."

if you never got to see the Resurrect Documentary about the Toynbee Tiles, it’s on youtube. It is so wonderfully Philadelphian

i guess this is how we were trying to get girls into math in 2010?
ok, a kind of satisfying thing was that in this time travel session, most of the PCs became the causes of their own backstories
DMs will often pretend like plot points their players come up with were actually the plan the whole time. Tonight… I explicitly disavowed their plot as my plan all along. I don’t think I can even post about it on here

they’re creating a GENIE… a GENIE that can grant… ANY WISH. I love to hear that the entire economy depends on CREATING A GENIE. Sign me up, buster! Invest my retirement account in the GENIE MACHINE that can grant ANY WISH
“What we need to explain to the world: Number one, we are close to creating a genie that can grant any wish. Number two, we are going to make sure that our first wishes broadly benefit humanity” - Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI — This is definitely the opposite of Anthropic’s AI kills all jobs pitch.
Pretty consistently, new R learners get tripped up over *installing* a package vs *loading* it. They'll install it, but then try using it without loading it, or they'll re-install it every session. I feel like there's a deeper conceptual issue that I haven't figured out how to speak to.
i teach R and Python because students won’t need expensive institutional licenses to use them in the future. There’s no way in hell i’m getting them hooked on expensive AI agent tools that haven’t even been priced for what they cost yet

I guess I always knew Github Classrooms would enshittify especially with all the $$ being burned on "AI". Still really sucks for the fall though.
for me, sometimes the learners who are hardest to help along are the ones who have very low confidence with the material, but actually have pretty good competence.

genuine q: if ai coding is massively increasing engineers’ productivity why does software either feel the same or worse? where is this productivity actually going?

it is VIOLENCE to bring Wet Hot American Summer back to theaters for its TWENTY-FIFTH anniversary
friends and loved ones threw me a tenure party that was a big improv jam and it was wonderful ❤️
1) I am seeing this opening day. 2) If you’ve never seen Rocky because you’re put off by the 80s glossy bravado of the series, the first movie is a solid gritty 70s drama, and Stallone is a really good actor in it.
