A vacancy mentions unlimited paid time off and then recommends 4 weeks off per year... which is actually the legal minimum in The Netherlands 🤐. Doesn't sound that unlimited. Luckily my current job offers 40 days off (vacation + 'ADV').

I wrote an article for @infoq.com about Fray which can be used to detect concurrency issues like deadlocks and race conditions in JVM languages: www.infoq.com/news/2025/12...

@oracleace.bsky.social extended my ACE Pro status for another years thanks to my contributions to the #Java community. Got some great swag as well. Especially the umbrellas will come in handy with the current Dutch weather 😅🌧.
Tried #springboot 4 RC1, only required a few small changes on our project. Looks like to migration to 4 will be easy 😁. So make sure to upgrade to #Java 25 and then next month to Spring Boot 4. Use a tool like dependabot or Renovate to upgrade your dependencies and stay up to date.
Upgrading from #java 21 to #java 25 was easy. Only had to fix a Lombok issue. All in all it cost me a couple of hours (less then half a day): some discussion, change build plan, change Maven POM, fix issue, run @openrewrite.github.io so we use the new language features and PR review and merge.
I was awarded the Gatling Master title: hubs.ly/Q03hbxR10. I have been using Gatling for many years and wrote/presented about it. It's an awesome tool if you want to do performance testing on, for example, REST based messages, Kafka messages, or Websockets.

It's awesome that the recording is now published. I had a great tim in Australia at the YOW! Conferences. Hope to go back someday 😀.
Get a sneak peak at dozens of tools to improve security, builds, architecture, tests & other areas, and learn something new to add to your #Java toolbox & library with @johanjanssen.bsky.social in his #YOW24 talk 🎬 youtu.be/RlCpgSoOX6I?...
It's so funny if people tell you how to give a presentation. For example, how many slides to use etc. Of course, after giving many presentations, you can still improve stuff, but still, getting these kinds of advice from people who probably hardly presented in public themselves feels awkward.
I felt old today when I realised that I had been working with Docker for about 11 years 😇. At least my experience was useful when helping a colleague with a Docker issue.
Awesome, I received my new wardrobe for the coming year. It's great to be part of the @javachampions.bsky.social program and thanks Jim/Oracle for shipping the swag!
Wow what an awesome early Christmas present and what an honor to be included in such an amazing group!
Cloudy, rainy and cold. Looks like I finally made it home from my trip to @yowconf.bsky.social and a few days of hiking in Australia.
It was an amazing conference. Great location, awesome sessions and great conversations about tech, Melbourne, hiking and running 😀. Hope to come back some day in the future.
#YOW24 in Melbourne is now over! 😢 Thank you to all our sponsors and exhibitors, track hosts, volunteers, crew & speakers. And of course, our attendees for supporting us this year. ❤️ #YOW24 will now be heading to Brisbane & can't wait to see you on Monday! yowcon.com/brisbane-2024/
I was today-1 days old when I found out you can have pineapple on your hamburger. Actually it tasted pretty good.

When I tried Blue Sky more than a year ago it didn't look that interesting as not many people used it. However, recently a lot of people joined and started following me. So looks like I can finally switch from the other platform which we don't name.
Wow these @devoxx.bsky.social folks are as quick as The Flash, my session from this morning is already online. Watch it if you want to know more about how computer chips are created and how #Java is involved. www.youtube.com/watch?v=k3RI...
