With another semester starting on Monday, I went looking for my usual "planning a semester" resources. Raúl's website is down, so I searched his name and saw this news from two months ago. I am so sad to hear about his passing--his generosity and writing shaped my graduate experience so profoundly.

While I don't doubt the dioceses are reporting accurate numbers, the data don’t actually show a huge surge of converts on a national level. According to @pewresearch.org's Religious Landscape Study, gains with Protestant converts are offset by disaffiliation of any religion.
