Book number four, here we go! I've had the brilliant idea to write two books this year. "Eat the Rich" will be out soon. Today, though, I begin the journey on something really special. It'll hit bookshelves worldwide April 2026. A huge thank you to Kogan Page for trusting me with this endeavour.

“Mining industry offs koalas.” That should be the headline as any hope for nature reform in Australia goes the way of the dodo. Journalists & outlets covering the continued impact of legislation on the planet should use a bit of creativity in really telling us who’s behind everything going on.

What if fighting WWII had to be profitable before we acted? That's kind of where things are in the climate tech space now, which is wrestling for funding as the shiny bobble of AI takes away critical investments. While climate-tech companies raised $10.3B in Q3, AI has seen a surge to over $21B.

My hot take: America wasn’t really pulling its weight on global climate action before, so fatalism around the election is probably misplaced. That’s because for a decade a large part of global climate and sustainability progress has been coming from places like Asia and Europe.

What was supposed to be a major win for climate finance devolved into a 💩 show of international proportions. But don't just take it from me. Read what those in the room at #cop29 had to say about the whole debacle.

“Meaningless gibberish, like some finance bros vomited a bunch of random words that sound cool.” Pretty much sums up the final decision at #COP29, courtesy of Brandon Wu at ActionAid USA. I’ll do a longer write up once I’ve calmed down.

Post-Covid there’s been a dramatic rise in #greenwashing not just from corporations, but also political leaders, favourite celebrities, and even social media influencers. They’re all gambling on us falling for their tricks. I want to make sure they lose that bet. Follow for all things greenwashing.

So you joined an alliance. That don’t impress me much! Signing treaties. Joining alliances. Setting targets. These are great but that’s only the starting point. You’ve got to actually do the work too. I don’t know about you, but I’m kinda tired of all the talk and no action.

For those not following, gas giant Santos is being sued in Australian Federal Court for greenwashing. Santos used terms like zero emission hydrogen, clean fuel, and clean energy, implying natural gas had only minor emissions. In fact, internal estimates indicated emissions were actually material.

Rich and Liz Uihlein are the most powerful conservative couple you’ve never heard of. They own popular supplier ULine and gave $138m to the Republicans this election. They also gave over $4 million to groups involved in Jan 6. Think about that next time you get one of their catalogs. #eattherich
