"We'll always have that cellar in the Grove, Debbie."
30 years ago today, I wrote a diary entry that somehow became a metaphor for my whole life.
Ethan: "Martin, I want you to know..." Martin: "I know what you want me to know! I've got no kin, no money, no horses! All I got here is a bunch of dead-man's clothes to wear! You told me that already, so shut your mouth!"
I bumped into old friends last night, out with their movie-loving uncle, who brought up #TheSearchers (1956). His mind was blown by the father-not-uncle theory, so much so he's watching it again this weekend... #JohnFord #JohnWayne (Shoutout to @latereviewer.bsky.social for his ace artwork here.)
This may change but #RaidersOfTheLostArk (1981) has gone from my top ten favourite films, replaced by #CaptainBlood (1935). #FilmSky
#ComedySky, Gags For Good, the social enterprise who ran my stand-up course are hosting a great night at #Doncaster Corn Exchange on Saturday 8th August. But it needs to sell more tickets or they'll lose money and the venue. Please share. www.gagnboneman.com

I bought this gorgeous sepia globe for a tenner from Oxfam earlier.
The wreckage sat at the bottom of the Row River in Cottage Grove, Oregon, for years, becoming a popular tourist attraction before it was salvaged for scrap metal during World War II in 1944.
I sure do. The second Patric Knowles exits the frame, you see a white car go from right to left in the background. I always wonder if the driver / family knew they were in the film.
100 years ago today at 3pm, Buster Keaton and his team delivered the most expensive shot in silent film history. Inflation adjusted/converted, $42,000 in 1926 is roughly £592,000 today, making the cost of the shot itself around £46,000 per second. #ThursdayMaths #FilmSky
