The night my wife and I got engaged back in 2004 we were at a fancy dress party and she was dressed up as Dolly.
Spent many years and all this year listening to Country, but Dolly was the first for me, listening to her in the kitchen when I was a kid while my mum cooked breakfast and smoked Consulate cigarettes. Saddest loss for a long long time.

Theres a noodle shop near to my office in East London that is currently playing Japanese versions of things like Carole King songs. Its quite surreal.
New Beth Orton is lovely. Something about her reminds me of Robert Wyatt, especially on this.
Any country fans should check out the latest album by Carter Faith, especially the song Six String, which manages to evoke a Roy Orbison meets Lana Del Rey feel. The album as a whole is a lot less cliche than a lot of the recent big albums by other artists, even while I love them.
Only been out half an hour, but Ella Langley's Dandelion album will be an album of the year, great country album, if you're a fan of Miranda Lambert or Kacey Musgraves.
Don't talk about my love for Country very often, I grew up with it, think a lot of people did in the 70s with a Celt parent (Welsh mother)for some reason. Lots of Irish families where I grew up so you'd hear their mothers playing it.
The recent special edition of The Style Council's Cafe Bleu has me remembering quite how obsessed I was with them at the time. The first two years of them might be my favourite Weller period of all time, because music and context of my life at time. The 12" of My Ever Changing Moods...love

Depending on my mood this is one of my top ten Jam tunes. Love the sound of this, Buckler and Foxton sound amazing.
Oh my. Air drumming to Clem on this. Meanwhile that pic of Jimmy Destri on the sleeve was a pose I copied back when I was younger and a smoker.
In my head Cruel To Be Kind by Nick Lowe and Dave Edmunds' version of Girls Talk are the same song. If I hear one I need to hear the other straight after. And looking them up I see they were recorded at the same time with the same musicians. Which explains it!
Listening to this today, and struck by how timeless it actually sounds.
