I’m learning how to get the maximum from roses in pots by combining colours in bulk. The white rose is ‘Your Wedding Day’ from Harkness roses, which brings out other colours strongly. Wishing everyone a great day. #roseWednesday #roses #gardening 🌱

Cool whites from the hottest July on record #SixWeeksOfColour #Whites #GardensHour #BloomScrolling 🌱
Full pic of the rose ‘Macmillan Nurse’, as a standard. Still in its first season, this is its second flush. Taken today. #GardensHour #gardening 🌱
While we are on patterns and whites, look at this double whorl of petals of the bloom of ‘Macmillan Nurse’, a lovely rose from Peter Beales. Stands out strongly against dark green glossy foliage. #GardensHour #roses #gardening 🌱
As a rose fanatic I’ve come to realise late in the day that whites work really well to bring out other colours, as much as they do on their own. Cover up this white and you’ll see that the colours don’t stand out as much. #GardensHour #gardening 🌱
Relaxing on a Friday afternoon by the Broads. Life is good.
Extremely late post for #roseWednesday, this is ‘Inspiration’. I’m really taken by the colour. #roses #gardening 🌱
One for you entomologists out there, or just insect lovers. A hornet mimic hoverfly, Volucella zonaria, feeding from a flower of a tree Fuchsia on my patio this morning. Becoming more common here in Norfolk, I’ve seen a few around. Quite a decent size. #Insects #entomology 🌱
Last of my garden reds for today’s #GardensHour. I wanted some ground cover in the ‘hot garden’ so I put in a couple of carpet roses, variety ‘Sunset’, last autumn having seen a similar one at Peter Beales rosarium. Another plant that is enjoying the heat. 🌱
Sorry I don’t know the variety of this Dahlia, guessing that Rick might. It is making the most of the weather. #GardensHour 🌱
Helenium ‘Red Jewell’. New in the garden this year. It isn’t phased by the heat as long as it’s watered. #GardensHour
Great crop of chillis this year, looking red and ripe. I have half a dozen plants of variety De Cayenne. These are ideal for drying and flaking. #gardensHour
Good morning to a cloudy wet Sunday, so #blueskysunday is needed on our TL. Wonderful bridge on Grasmere Common..enticing you to the mountains or safely bringing you home...🥾🥾💜 Have a wonderful Sunday...for me a quiet one with a book me thinks...🤗 📖 xx
The Peter Beales Roses stand at the RHS Sandringham show this week was just glorious. It will be on Gardeners World (in the UK) tonight. Well worth a watch I would suggest.
Was great to see Rachel de Thame looking so relaxed at the Peter Beales Roses stand while promoting their newest rose, ‘La Madeleine’. And Ian Limmer, head rosarian at Peter Beales being honoured by the RHS for 50 years of service. Looking forward to planting that rose in my garden next week.
Great time at the RHS Sandringham flower show yesterday with daughter #1. Highly recommended if you’re in the area this week. Of course it wouldn’t be Sandringham without a champagne garden! Cheers 🥂.
To celebrate the life of the rose breeder David JC Austin whose death was sadly announced yesterday, here is the wonderful DA rose Gabriel Oak in my ‘hot’ garden this week. I’m off to the RHS Sandringham flower show today, much looking forward to it. #gardening #roses
Seems like it’s antioxidant Tuesday. Very overcast here but alas no rain.
‘Eustacia Vye’ has been fantastic in the garden this year. I have a group of three that have put on a fantastic show. They are having a break atm so these pics are from a couple of weeks ago. Another fav David Austin rose named after the Thomas Hardy character. #RoseoftheDay #gardening #roses
For this week’s #RoseoftheDay offerings I shall focus on some of the David Austin roses in the garden. Starting with ‘Princess Anne’, one of my favourites with a lovely scent and always seems to be in flower. This one is a standard. Have a great week. #gardening #roses
Very early morning high in Bannau Brycheiniog / Brecon Beacons NP, Wales. It seems another lovely day is on the cards. (It feels like a forever summer, but remember the first three weeks of June were cool and damp!)
The shadows lengthen in the gravel garden as the sun sinks lower. A beautiful evening right now. #gardening #UKgardens
Good morning. Wherever the day & weekend take you, hope it resets you after a busy week. Have fun, stay safe...🤗 xx #fingerpostfriday #Yorkshirecoast #louisejennyvantour
Good morning all, Friday and things are cooler for gardening though still no rain on the horizon. My final #RoseoftheDay from the garden this week is ‘Lucky’, a free-flowering floribunda which I discovered last year. Also seems to have good disease resistance. Have a great day. #gardening #roses
