I go back and forth on AH, part of me would genuinely like to see him & his ilk actually be made to suffer genuine consequences for all that he’s done to help make the UK, and indeed world, a much worse place but then he also wakes up every day as Allister Heath & what more punishment could there be
It is putting it mildly to describe these people as a death cult.
God I love watching lucy worsley’s tv shows, just constantly trying and failing to guess what syllables she’s going to put the emphasis on in any given sentence. Absolutely wonderful presenter
I feel like asking this is of dubious value but what’s the deal with Taylor Lorenz? hers is one of those names I generally only see mentioned by people who somehow spend even more time online than I do, but Substack just forced an interview with her into my inbox and it’s kinda bleak in many ways
Can’t believe FIFA pulled that annoying trope whereby you think you defeated the final boss but he’s all like ‘you absolute fools, all my evil villainous deeds were just to stop an even worse threat emerging and destroying us all…’
Bruxelles 29.07.26 - 14:45 Premium fantasy lifestyle magazine Wyrd Science today becomes the world’s first print publication to officially ban the use of Smart Glasses, aka Nonce Goggles, whilst reading it News orga wishing to follow up on this story are advised to drop us a line for more info
I see today we're pretending there aren't dozens of magazines that cover film in depth and in myriad ways. I know it's inconvenient that you have to pay for these things but that doesn't mean they don't exist
sadly it seems like half a dozen indie TTRPG designers were trampled to death in the stampede to clown on Polygon's article about Manganiello's new DnD setting, sadly their cries for help, & that their new game is PWYW on itch, were drowned out by people shouting something about Mork Borg at home
need to add some aging to the print but I feel like something like this could work

thoughts & prayers to everyone whose business has take a pummelling over recent years walking away from X, Substack, countless other platforms because they were run or taken over by wronguns and who are just discovering that the guy who runs Shopify appears to be a fucking maniac too
have to say as racist dogfoghorns goes 'Hollywood' feels quite quaint and olde timey now
Elon seems a bit salty after the Economist interview.
People writing books and/or RPG adventures, what’s the nerdiest, most pointless bit of research you’ve done in the name of worldbuilding that you very probably didn’t need to do & no one else cared about? I just found my old notes with all the phases of the moon & tides in Northern England in 1566
Going to call that a good post day, @hookland.bsky.social fragments vol.1 & the how-bloody-big-is-that Delinquent Elementals by @philh.bsky.social & @rodneyorpheus.bsky.social

What we've been reading, watching, listening to and buying this weekend and think you should check out too....

watching BBC news last night where they led with like 10-15 minutes of coverage of out of control wild fires raging across Europe from Spain right up to Scotland, whilst the same's happening across North America & at no point did I fell like this would translate into any meaningful political action
it's very cool as now I'm tracking my blood pressure several times a day I have a super accurate record showing me exactly when I've had to try and work with a board games publisher
Omg, Kemi Badenoch just delivered an incredibly lacklustre criticism of Andy Burnham in her traditional sneery tone, should probably spend a good ten minutes of the news covering this development
Always nice, if somewhat discombobulating, when unlikely juxtapositions of your interests occur, in this case finding out that Adam Frost from Gardener’s World has just interviewed Mike D from the Beastie Boys
“£50! That doesn’t even cover half what I spend a day on sports betting”
'£50 doesn't even buy a meal': What people think of Burnham's electricity VAT cut
My Ian Miller prints just turned up and they’re so incredible I have to show them off. As ever apologies for the unscripted rambling, droning voice, poor camera work and terrible lighting. You all know by now I started a print mag for a very good reason & that wasn’t to gain industry respect 1/2
Incredibly unfortunate that this completely random & accidental video of cops at work just happened to coincide with the, I’m sure, only four hours a year they act like total fucking bastards and it is not at all indicative of their bastard behaviour 24 hours a day, seven days a week
Bodycam accidentally left recording captured 4 damning hours in police station

Last day, for now, with de hond. Wish I could just find a spot of sunlight to crash in and be as comfortable as he manages
Genuinely can’t work out who is being punished here anymore, Nandy or the Culture industry?
"Lisa Nandy will remain as the culture secretary, Downing Street said." OH GOOD GRIEF
Oh god Nandy is going to be promoted for the shift she’s put in the last couple of years, isn’t she 😑
Absolutely love to read a piece by a journalist who 100% gets the assignment, Pulitzer Prize stuff here
New York sculptor spent $100,000 to make a Charlie Kirk statue no one wants to buy
I know we mock the US political press, and rightly so, but it's very funny that not once but as far as I can work out several times in recent years they've both seemed unable to and/or uninterested in verifying whether senior politicians they cover are in fact alive or, at the very least, conscious
