Started watching sugar on Apple TV after seeing some hints that you could basically view it as a Culture/special curcumstances story and it’s pretty fun from that angle. I have no idea if I would have enjoyed it if I wasn’t already a fan of the culture though.

TTRPG obsessive, He/Him, leftist, former Professional Mad Wine-Scientist, stay at home dad, enthusiastically bad at drawing, fuck AI slop
I just saw the dnd universes beyond shit and honestly all I can picture is a room full of execs standing in a circle chanting “slop! Slop! Slop!” While they prepare to butcher dnd for any profitability left in the IP by making it Fortnite.
Fuck I just realized I need to re-read roadside picnic before my players make it to the damn in deep carbon observatory
All that’s left is to dig out cards and sleeve them up and play
I have acquired 1000 sleeves for magic cards at a deep discount in a shady parking lot exchange. The perfect start to putting my innistrad centric spooky cube together.
Ran session 3 of deep carbon observatory. The party ran into Rem Koolhouse and Ruskin Behavior having an impotent wizards duel on a bridge and then used their corpses to go grapnel hook fishing with for a giant pike that they took back to town to help the starving townsfolk
We picked up a knockoff peloton this week for like $100 and honestly it’s been great. I’ll jump on it and pedal for 10-15 minutes at a time throughout the day. I don’t have a schedule that’s super conducive to going to the gym but I will run on my exercise wheel like a hamster while doomscrolling.
Finally getting around to watching project Hail Mary. God damn what a movie.
Started reading the hobbit to my kid yesterday. He’s 5, and within one chapter he is completely hooked and wants to know what Gandalf is up to
This is one of those ideas that’s so good I’m genuinely upset I didn’t think of it.
Powers out tonight so I sat on the porch and drew a postcard dungeon for a friend until it got too dark to see.
They make bob ross playmats for mtg!? Why did no one tell me this!?
I think there’s a pretty big gulf between “my asshole boss at Jamba Juice” and “man who was instrumental in many of the greatest crimes of our nation state”
My hot take is that Lindsey Graham did many contemptible things but if you’re furious that his Senate Democratic colleagues are posting nice things about him today you need to put down your phone, get some fresh air, and remember a time when a colleague you disliked departed this mortal coil.
live your life in such a way that you never have to worry about millions of people celebrating your death
Working on a 4 player bloomburrow cube. 180 cards is less than it sounds like it would be.
Man I love shared deck magic games. Played JundJund with a buddy this afternoon on tabletop simulator and it’s such a perfect way to scratch the itch for a grindy mid-range combat focused game of magic, but without so much complexity that we weren’t able to shoot the shit the whole time.
A halfling, a magic user and a thief walk into a flooded city reeling from disaster… and immediately start plotting how they’re gonna get rich
Session 1 of deep carbon observatory went well. Rolled up characters in OSE and did a few of the onslaught of carrowmore encounters the party will work through them as they cross town looking for the other adventurers that they heard rumours about.
Going to be starting Deep carbon observatory tonight. Heard good things about it for years so fingers crossed. We’ll probably be using world of dungeons carrying characters forward from black wyrm of brandonsford and prison of the hated pretender. Apparently this is the indie darling campaign now
Say what you will about this murderous regime… but they do know how to make a good visual metaphor.
The stage is falling apart at the rehearsal for Freedom 250's July 4th celebration.
My mono red spellslinger deck performed better than I expected tonight at commander night meaning we were able to get in 3 games in 3 hours.
Played an incredibly cinematic game of 40k tonight, my nearly fully painted crimson fists against his beautifully painted death guard. My crimson fists got to do the thing from the cover of the codex.
From a chemistry background the peroxide was probably all gone almost instantly. An environmental scientist would know better but it degrades into H2O and O2. Are we sure they didn’t just oxygenate the water and supercharge the bloom? It didn’t look like enough peroxide to do shit to the algae.
They're dumping slimy, green peroxide water from the Reflecting Pool back into the Potomac. #dc @popville.bsky.social
on the wall of a Portland brewery bathroom yesterday. One might say that’s a “deep cut”
I hate the heat :( evel like 80F feels unbearably hot and gross to me. Give me overcast rainy and cold any day.
I have a particular disgust for people who post ai generated images of animals being cute. Fuck you. Nature is awesome, ai is inherently destructive towards it in a scale that’s hard to put into words. Go outside and take pictures of real animals while you still can you fucking losers.
Booker has decided that the guy who mows our rental’s lawn is good. Because he gets to go have the zoomies around the yard when he’s done.
Tax the rich, but also build a second IRS that’s whole job is to root out billionaire tax evasion and then as a part of those tax laws throw their asses in prison for a decade without bail and seize their assets if they don’t pay. you can be rich and live in unimaginable comfort, with scrutiny.
Every time I listen to the Mountain Goats I find another fucking banger of a song. Such a ridiculously impressive, deep discography.
