Think your brain is declining with age? It doesn't have to. Participants experienced measurable gains in cognitive, emotional and social wellbeing across the entire age range, with those in their 70s and 80s seeing improvements equal to younger adults involved www.sciencefocus.com/the-human-bo...

With age comes wisdom, we’re told. But retaining the ability to recall the whereabouts of your glasses? Forget it – or so we're told

We loved this so much we just had to put English subtitles on it, apologies to the French speakers for our translation. But this is what it would look like here in the UK if Farage or Lowe or another of their ilk got their own way.

The Dover incident Uniformed, organized, far right paramilitary group, and the police and security services didn't seem to know their plans. Effectively a private army of thugs. Like Mosley's (and the Italian) fascist Blackshirts, or the Brownshirt paramilitary storm troopers of early N@zi Germany

Just had a climate denier on Threads crowing that Antarctica was gaining ice, and would not be convinced otherwise. The reality is, the mass gains were due to warmer moister air, which means more precipitation. A temporary slowdown of ice loss. www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Multiyear tropical warm pool warming drives slowdown in Antarctic mass loss - Nature

Recent Antarctic ice mass gain was linked to a recurrent atmospheric teleconnection, but this recurs about once per decade in observations and historical simulations so does not yet reflect a global-w...

The party of free speech, who protect our women and girls, assaulting a woman for speaking her mind. Hair pulled, hit with a walking stick and fists, hand over her mouth, all while Farage laughs and mocks her from the podium. Vile people

Pro-Russia/Pro-Israel right-wing Reform sycophants in the UK assault multiple young women for speaking out against Donald Trump and the Tate brother's friend, the corrupt Nigel Farage. Farage laughed and joked about the assaults.

I heard someone moan about their energy bill, and they were parroting the reform line of blaming renewables. The reality is somewhat different. Every accepted generator gets paid the price of the most expensive bid needed to meet demand not their own bid, usually gas ukgridlive.info/pages/electr...

How the GB wholesale electricity price is calculated, how Contracts for Difference work, and why cheaper renewables don't automatically mean cheaper bills.

We know how to limit the damage, we have the technology to limit the damage, but do we have the political and social will to limit the damage? All the warming scenarios assume some limit or reduction to greenhouse gases, but what if our greed for energy and social apathy means it increases? #climate

A major new UN report details the risks of overshooting 1.5°C of warming – and how we can limit them. ➡️ https://l.euronews.com/W7Z5

I trust Zeke, and this is a very thorough explanation of the new climate models, but I fear it's hopelessly optimistic. I do NOT think there will be anywhere enough mitigation to meet even the high scenario. The way climate change is accelerating, we'll be lucky to avoid the 2100 estimates by 2050.

The emissions scenarios underlying the next generation of climate model runs that will be featured in the upcoming IPCC 7th Assessment Report are officially out! I have a big new explainer over at Carbon Brief taking an in-depth look at what they mean and whats changed: www.carbonbrief.org/...
